Celebrating the art of film-making by promoting independent, art, documentary, foreign, classic films

We are a group of local residents who want to have films shown at our local theater that are of interest outside of the usual first-run movies. We show foreign, classic, documentary, art and independent films each 2nd Tuesday and Wednesday of the month. We also aim to support local business by keeping our special independent movie theater in business by increasing clientele and getting the word out about this special place.

"The Arlington Film Festival offers a unique opportunity for cross-cultural education by promoting understanding of the many cultures represented in our town and beyond. We are registered in Arlington, Massachusetts as an organization dedicated to developing, promoting, and increasing multicultural awareness and understanding. The festival is a means for recognizing that such diversity enriches our community.

We believe that our annual international film festival highlights core values and aspirations we share in common with our culturally diverse neighbors and with all members of the global human family. Local filmmakers are especially encouraged to submit entries.

Included in our mission is the commitment to nurture the next generation of talented filmmakers. The Festival offers a unique opportunity for local high school students to showcase their talent- in film and graphic art."

The Maynard Fine Arts Theatre will be hosting the only public MA screening of the award winning documentary, “Vishniac." on Sunday, March 10 at 4:00 PM.

The film tells the life story of Roman Vishniac, the world-renowned photographer, who traveled throughout Eastern Europe from 1935-1938, taking pictures of life in Jewish communities on the eve of the Holocaust. These incredible photographs of “ordinary Jewish life" later proved to provide the last visual records of an entire world.

The film will be introduced by Avi and Rebecca Vichniac, cousins of Roman Vishniac. Immediately following the film, a Q and A session will take place.

Admission is $15 and tickets can be purchased at the MFAT box office.
