The Pony International World Series is again being played in the City of McAllen with the help of neighboring cities Edinburg and San Juan. With 160 teams from multiple countries, let’s give them a warm welcome as we see the players and families across town. Boys & Girls Club of McAllen

Shark attack at SPI. Be advised if you are at the Island.

SHARK ATTACK ON SPI: The shark attack happened at approximately 11 a.m. along Beach Access 14, near Wanna Wanna Beach Bar and Grill. One man is hospitalized as of late. https://www.valleycentral.com/news/local-news/shark-attack-at-south-padre-island-leaves-one-hospitalized/

UPDATE: Multiple sharks have been spotted very close to the shore on South Padre Island. There are multiple shark attacks as of July 4th 2:00 pm. More details to follow. Exercise extreme caution when in the water and always keep eyes on children.

The City will distribute sandbags on Friday in preparation for the storm.

Congratulations to Driscoll on the opening of their Training Center in McAllen. Their hospital is scheduled to open this May. It’s the only children’s hospital in the RGV and one of only 30 in the country. 👏🩺

The State of City address reported another strong year in economic activity, that helped to keep our property taxes low while raising the quality of life for our residents. This year’s theme was . If We Can, We Will. Great job by Javier Villalobos McAllen Mayor on another great SOTC.

The 2023 Hiring Red, White and You (HRWY) event is happening today from 10:30 to 2:30 at the McAllen Convention Center. Workforce Solutions is hosting this event with more than 100 employers ready to hire for more than 3,000 job openings. The HRWY event is focused on serving the Veterans including spouses and family members, as well as the public.
