Bentsen Summer Camp

We will be hosting a Summer Chess Camp at Bentsen Elementary.

All students Kinder to 12th Grade are welcome and the camp is open to all school districts.

Students will participate in lecture style classes as well as have some free time to play against one another and put what they have learned into practice.

Breakfast and Lunch will be Provided
Breakfast: 7:30 to 8:15
Lunch hour: 11:30 to 12:30
(parents can drop off lunch during this time)

Full day camp hours are: 8:30 to 3:30
AM 1/2 day hours are: 8:30 to 11:30 or 12:15 if staying for lunch.
PM 1/2 day hours are 12:30 to 3:30 and may arrive at 11:30 to have lunch.

Please be sure to pick up your students promptly at at 3:30 pm.

Yisrael Becomes First Female African-American National Master The US Chess Federation announced on Monday that Shama Yisrael, a 20-year-old from Florida, has crossed the 2200 USCF rating barrier and will become the first female African-American national master.

De Zavala Summer Chess Camp

We will be hosting a Summer Chess Camp at De Zavala Elementary.

All students Kinder to 12th Grade are welcome and the camp is open to all school districts.

Students will participate in lecture style classes as well as have some free time to play against one another and put what they have learned into practice.

(Students may brink snacks)

Lunch hour: 11:30 to 12:30

Full day camp hours are: 8:30 to 3:30
AM 1/2 day hours are: 8:30 to 11:30 or 12:15 if staying for lunch.
PM 1/2 day hours are 12:30 to 3:30 and may arrive at 11:30 to have lunch.

We will be hosting our first Summer Chess Camp at BL Gray Middle School.

All students Kinder to 12th Grade are welcome and the camp is open to all school districts.

Breakfast will be provided from 7:30 to 8:15 am.
Lunch will be provided from 11:30 to 12:30 pm.

Full day camp hours are: 8:30 to 3:30
AM 1/2 day hours are: 8:30 to 11:30 or 12:15 if staying for lunch.
PM 1/2 day hours are 12:30 to 3:30 and may arrive at 11:30 to have lunch.

“One of the main things I think chess has taught me is how to take responsibility for my actions - how to man up.” - Amari

On a larger scale, Amari is also bringing in other celebrities outside of the chess realm to the same mission - chess deserves more recognition.

What happens to chess after it’s used to earn a scholarship? It mostly doesn’t get used again and that’s not acceptable.

We look forward to working together once again to continue boosting chess interest and growth.
