Congratulations to the newest certified Birth Reatored educator.

We are so grateful to have Aly as an educator.

She also provides birth and bereavement doula services in the Ft. Worth, Texas area.

Swipe to see what Aly has to say about the certification program.

If you're in the Terrel, TX area and looking for a childbirth class, go take Birth Restored with Kristin!

She's amazing and the class is for mothers birthing in all locations.

What makes it worth getting up early on a Saturday morning? Teaching a birth class where you get to talk to parents about God's design and purposes for our pregnancies, labors, and births. We had amazing dads who didn't just sit through the class as if they could be anywhere else or checked out. No, these dads came ready to learn, engage, and support their wives as they together grow their families.

Thanks Sheila & Blessed Joy!

These two pictures get me major in the feels.

The first one both mom and dad are in the "Holy crap, can you believe that just happened and baby is here?"

The second picture mom just fell in love with her honey all over again. 😍

Swoon. Those love endorphins are running high!

The Birth of Weston 06/07/2023

Well I missed international homebirth day but wanted to post about it anyways.

My first two babies were born in a birth center and my last was born at home. Best decision ever.

I've also had the wonderful privilege of getting to doula for many homebirth mamas.

Thank you to the many wonderful midwives and birthworkers in our area who support homebirth.

Due dates are based on Naegele’s rule. This rule was created in the 1700’s and hasn’t been changed since. The rule assumes that you have a 28 day menstrual cycle and ovulate on the 14th day of the cycle.

According to this rule  you add 7 days to the first day of your last period and then count forward 9 months.

Although this rule gives us a good guess, we now know that there are several flaws with this rule.

Irregular cycles 12-45 days

Breastfeeding mothers ovulating before first period

Ovulating more than once per cycle

The best method for estimating your due date is by an ultrasound between 11-14 weeks gestation. After 14 weeks the accuracy for estimating due dates decreases as genetic factors start to play a role in the size of your baby.

What does this mean for you?

Your estimated due date is just that, an estimation. And on average first time moms who do not induce go into spontaneous labor at 41 weeks and 3 days. If you have a provider who schedules inductions at the 40 or 41 week mark,  your baby and body might not be ready.

I haven't been the best at posting on social but here's to trying to share more.

This beautiful mama delivered last month. She had an amazing birth center birth.

She was able to use her hypnobirthing techniques to calming and gently move through labor and birth her precious babe.

Congrats sweet mama.

Make no doubt that you are at war for your birth. If you do just one thing right in your pregnancy, make it choosing your birth team. Your birth team will be a make or break in the satisfaction of your birth.
I’m not saying that if you pick the wrong birth team, you won’t have a healthy baby and mom. But I am saying that the enemy is using fear to steal the joy and empowerment that birth can bring to mothers.
Unfortunately, he is often using care providers to instill this fear and distrust in their own bodies when it comes to birth.
Yes, there are circumstances when birth becomes dangerous and medical intervention is the best and most empowering choice, but in the U.S. we have a maternal care crisis, especially for first-time mothers.
We know that the cesarean rate is 32%. Let me repeat that…32%. That’s 1 out of 3 pregnant women who are delivering via cesarean. And the national rate for low-risk, healthy, full-term, head down pregnancies is 29% cesarean rate.
Please hear my heart on this. A cesarean can be a life saving, God-honoring way to deliver a baby. But 32% of women’s bodies are not failing them when it comes to childbirth. God’s design is not flawed. Man’s intervention and views on birth are.

Sometimes circumstances arise during pregnancy that lead to a necessary change in birth plans. Although it can be frustrating, a change in plans doesn't have to equate to a total loss of your ideal birth.
This amazing mama needed baby to come sooner than later. She was able to work with her body and stay as close to her birth plan as possible by using a Foley bulb instead of an alternative pharmaceutical option.
Thankfully her body responded beautifully and with the help of her doula and wonderful husband she rocked her completely unmedicated birth just the way she wanted.

Considering doula support for your birth?

First, as a doula my role is never to replace your spouse but rather to work as a perfect team complementing each other and providing you with amazing support and an awesome birth experience.

Check out the texts that the DADs sent me after my last two births this November. A doula is just as much for the mom as for the dad. The doula supports the entire family unit.

I'd love to support you in your birth. I'm currently booking clients with due dates for late January through May. Find out more 👇

Not only are we beautifully and wonderfully made, but pregnancy and birth are beautifully and wonderfully designed. The more I learn the more in awe I am of our God.

“When pregnant, the cells of the baby migrate into the mothers bloodstream and then circle back into the baby, it’s called “fetal-maternal microchimerism”.

For 41 weeks, the cells circulate and merge backwards and forwards, and after the baby is born, many of these cells stay in the mother’s body, leaving a permanent imprint in the mothers tissues, bones, brain, and skin, and often stay there for decades. Every single child a mother has afterwards will leave a similar imprint on her body, too.

Even if a pregnancy doesn't go to full term or if you have an abortion, these cells still migrate into your bloodstream.

Research has shown that if a mother's heart is injured, fetal cells will rush to the site of the injury and change into different types of cells that specialize in mending the heart.

The baby helps repair the mother, while the mother builds the baby.

How cool is that?

This is often why certain illnesses vanish while pregnant.

It’s incredible how mothers bodies protect the baby at all costs, and the baby protects & rebuilds the mother back - so that the baby can develop safely and survive.

Think about crazy cravings for a moment. What was the mother deficient in that the baby made them crave?

Studies have also shown cells from a fetus in a mothers brain 18 years after she gave birth. How amazing is that?”

If you’re a mom you know how you can intuitively feel your child even when they are not there….Well, now there is scientific proof that moms carry them for years and years even after they have given birth to them.

I find this to be so very beautiful.

Such a beautiful moment and beautiful words

“Do you know what I love the most about this photo?

The fact that no one is interfering with this sacred moment.

Mama is holding her baby close. No one is disrupting them. No one is checking if the cord is still pulsing, measuring babies head, weighing baby, putting a tag on baby, asking questions, giving baby a vitamin k injection, removing baby to a warming table... they are simply just left to enjoy the moment!

And that is my favourite thing" ❤️

Want to know the NUMBER ONE hindrance in childbirth?

(at least in my opinion)

FEAR.

Fear fueled by ignorance. I don't mean that in a mean or rude way. But we don't know, what we don't know and oftentimes that lack of knowledge leads to anxiety, worry, and fear.

Whether you're birthing in the hospital or at home, feeling educated and empowered to make the best decisions for your pregnancy and birth are priceless!

The BIRTH RESTORED course will teach you everything you need to know to have a calm, confident, and comfortable birth.
