This season's Junior Grand Prix will be a special one. On an ISU podcast episode, they interviewed Ted Barton, commentator of the Junior Grand Prix, and he discussed that with the cancellation of the tournament last year, everyone on this circuit is new. There are no favorites right now, but as this event gets under way, you will see some rising stars. I know I'll be tuning in!

SC of Boston - West Rink Live Streaming of the Cranberry Open, Cranberry Cup and Lake Placid Dance from the West rink at the Skating Club of Boston.

Cranberry Open in Massachusetts will be underway starting in a couple of hours. Here's the Livestream rink to their Performance Rink. This "Open" event is for most levels. This competition is held in conjunction with the first ISU event which is the Cranberry Cup International featuring National champions and Olympic medalists! This livestream will cover both events! The events on the West Rink will be posted on the next post.

Major summer competitions are underway as skaters prepare for the upcoming Winter Olympics next February in Beijing.

Our first regular Learn to Skate series since March 2020 has begun this week! Our coaches are so excited to be back teaching group classes after a long hiatus. Special Thank You to Sherwin Williams for donating buckets to assist our 3-5 year olds!

Congratulations to Molly!!

Molly MacGowan, Southern Oregon Figure Skating Club member for more than 20 years, was recently awarded the Yvonne Dowlen award as the eldest competitor at U.S. Figure Skating's Adult national Championships.
She received a crystal plate and will have her name engraved on the Dowlen trophy!
Molly Placed 4th in her Bronze ladies Light Entertainment event.
Now in her 80's, she says this was her last competitive event and performance.
Molly continues as a SOFSC member, supporting all of our skaters and events. We can’t wait to see what Molly does next with het skating. Congratulations Molly and Thank you for your commitment to the skating community!!

Happy July!! Yesterday we had our first figure skating specific session introducing these young skaters to freestyles. Special thanks to the Southern Oregon Figure Skating Club for opening their private club ice to these kids!
