Fielding English

STRIKE means to hit something hard. In this quote, it means to take action.

“The iron” is a piece of metal that gets soft when it’s hot, so it’s easier to shape by hitting it. The quote says not to wait for the iron to get hot (the perfect time). Instead, start taking action now (start hitting), and you will create the right time.

This is like practicing English. Don’t wait for the best moment — start now, and you will get better.

Today is the day to wear orange at school! I dropped my son off while we ran to school. Even though we could have driven, we chose to run instead—it was a great way to ‘kill two birds with one stone.’

Today, my beloved grandfather Agenor went to heaven. I was eagerly looking forward to traveling to Brazil with Thomas next year so he could see his great-grandfather for the second time. Unfortunately, he passed away today. Living in another country has its challenges, and one of the hardest is not being able to be there for family gatherings or to visit special people like my grandfather. For those who have your family members close by, especially your grandparents, cherish every moment with them because we never know what the future holds.

Now, we won’t have the chance to see him again, but Thomas will always know that instead of a great-grandfather here on Earth, he now has a superstar in heaven.

Today marks a special milestone—Thomas’s first day of Kindergarten! We couldn’t be prouder of him as he takes this big step into the world of learning and adventure.

Today marks the start of the school year here in the USA! It’s a bit different from Brazil, where the school year begins in February. This week, Thomas is starting Kindergarten, and he’s so excited! In the US, Kindergarten is equivalent to the last year of “Educação Infantil” in Brazil, which is called “Pré-escola II” or “Jardim II.”

Today was Thomas’s graduation day as he moves up to kindergarten. In the United States, schools usually start in August and finish in May.

Pre-K often begins at age 4, followed by kindergarten at age 5, and then progresses through 12 grades. College years are typically labeled as freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years.
