As we embark on this year's 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Memphis District Senior Olympics, there are so many companies and organizations we need to extend our gratitude to for their support of our mission.

Bartlett Senior Center 5727 Woodlawn Street from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Drop by any time between those hours and we will get you registered.

The 2nd session will be that same day, Wednesday, August 22nd at Panera Bread located at 4530 Poplar Avenue; Suite 101 (Laurelwood) from 12 Noon to 2 pm.

We will have staff on hand to register you for this year's event. It only takes 10 minutes to get signed up. So.....

As registration is underway for the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Memphis District Senior Olympics, we would like to say Thank You to those who dropped by our Registration Support Session today to register for this year's district event. We were able to get a snapshot of some of our outstanding Athletes that came by to register and some who came just to support District staff and other Athletes who were registering for the first time. We appreciate all of you for your Love and Support.

REMEMBER, you only have a couple more weeks to join the 50+Movement. We will have another Registration Support Session next week. Please follow our page for date, time and location. Let's Go Memphis.

Also, you don't have to be a pro in any sport to participate. You can be a beginner, never played at all or really skilled. We welcome everyone. Yes, it's a competition, but it's also a social event. It's a great opportunity to connect with other mature- aged adults and make new friends, all while participating in friendly competition

Meet Mrs. Mary Reeves and Mr. Billy Peak. Both were named “Outstanding Athlete“ in their age categories during our 2022 Memphis District Senior Olympics Closing Ceremony. They were so humbled, surprised and excited to be honored.

Their sportsmanship, effort, support of their teammates and positive attitudes encouraged so many other Athletes, especially those Athletes who were competing for the first time……even though it was Ms. Mary’s and Mr. Billy’s first year as well. Both joined the Memphis District in 2022, and we are so blessed to have them as a part of our district. Their supportive and encouraging spirits are infectious, and they are challenging other older adults to sign up for the Best Event in Memphis!

Memphis District Senior Olympics

Meet Ms. Jacquelyn who is one of our outstanding Athletes in the Memphis District Senior Olympics. Ms. Jacquelyn joined the Memphis District in 2021. Even after a very serious health/medical issue, she was still determined to compete in the Memphis District competitions. So, she pressed on and competed in over 10 competitions in 2021 and 2022 and won medals in several of those competitions which included Basketball, Bowling, Track and Field, Co****le, Softball Throw, Pickleball.

Ms. Jacqueline's strength and resilience are so inspirational, and we are so proud to have her as a part of our district. Join Ms. Jacqueline and our other 400 outstanding Athletes as we kick off our 40th Anniversary celebration and competition. Join the 50+Movement.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Norman Smith on his achievements at the 2023 Tennessee Senior Olympics State Finals Competition. Mr. Norman is a part of the Memphis District Senior Olympics and he brought home 1 Gold, 2 Silver Medals and a Bronze. Mr. Norman states that all of his training for the last 6 months definitely paid off; but, the best part of it all was making new friends during the competitions. He also says to all of his friends that are 50+, "I believe y'all would enjoy the exercise and friendly competition between folks your same age."

Great job Mr. Norman, you represented the Memphis District well and we are so proud of you.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: The first registration support session for the 2023 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Memphis District Senior Olympics is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 3 pm to 6 pm at the McWherter Senior Center, located at 1355 Estate Drive. If you need help registering for our 2023 District Event, please drop by the McWherter Senior Center tomorrow between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm, and we will have volunteers on hand to get you registered.

Also, our 2nd support session is scheduled for July 31st at McWherter Senior Center and the new time is anytime between 8 am and 3:30 pm.

As we gear up for this year’s 40th Anniversary celebration, we want to take a moment to share some memories from last year’s successful event. Hopefully, if you are not already one of our Athletes, this will inspire you to become a part of the movement. Fit, Fearless and a 40 year Legacy of Active Living. THIS YEAR, we will reach a major milestone with the Memphis District Senior Olympics .... WE are celebrating our 40th Anniversary, and we have a phenomenal event planned for this year. ATTENTION MEMPHIS DISTRICT ATHLETES. The Swim Competition that is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 24th has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 8, 2022. The competition will still be at the Hickory Hill Community Center on October 8th and the times of each heat will remain the same. We certainly apologize for any inconvenience.
