Dear CBTU Executive Council and Chapter Presidents:
Please be advised of the CARAT Team CBTU scholarships being offered for health and safety training at the ICWUC training center in Cincinnati, OH. The training will focus on Chemical Emergency Response to the technician level responder. There is no prerequisite to this class. Please share this information with your membership.
We have several scholarships per training. Every scholarship includes lodging, travel, and a stipend. Scholarships will be granted on a first-come first-serve basis. All scholarship nominees must have their chapter's leadership approval.
Many of our members have used this training to engage their community in responding to Environmental Justice issues, as well as leverage for professional growth.

Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response
This course is designed to meet the requirements of OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.120 (q). The course objectives and content are targeted to assist each site's management in meeting the competency requirements of technician level responder. It is the employer's responsibility to "certify" to this level, especially since the class may use different personal protective equipment and does not cover site-specific operations. This course focuses on identifying chemicals, selecting the proper personal protective equipment and utilizing proper tools and techniques when responding to chemical emergencies.
