The UT Martin Department of Visual and Theatre Arts is pleased to announce Bellwethers 2023: The 6th Annual Juried Exhibition of Collegiate Student Art, in partnership with the West Tennessee Regional Art Center in Humboldt, TN. This exhibition is open to all undergraduate students and recent graduates from two- and four-year institutions in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Entries may be submitted at utm.edu/bellwethers . You may submit up to three pieces for jurying.

Our juror for this year's exhibition is Josh Breeden. Breeden is an award-winning, Memphis-based graphic designer/artist. He received his BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Tennessee at Martin and has spent the past 10 years as an art director at Loaded for Bear, a boutique creative agency. Incorporating analog and digital techniques, Breeden’s body of work blurs the line between design and fine art and leans toward the surreal and psychedelic. He has been featured in exhibitions and public installations and has created work for HBO, The New York Times, MTV, WIRED, The Atlantic, and more.

Making my small screen design debut tomorrow on HBO Max — worked on all the main titles / creds with Alex Pilkington this past summer. It's a doc feature about folks learning the biz of professionally becoming Santa, but really it's a commentary on the idea of "Santa Claus" and the missing representation and diversity in mainstream culture.
