This old gentleman made a pram for his paralyzed dog himself. As he said, he takes him for walks so that the dog feels that despite his complete paralysis, "he can still see the world and he is still part of it.â¤

Once again donations are needed for Coco. She has done exceptionally well since last year after going through 2 major surgeries. Thank you to everyone who donated towards her care. On, Saturday, March 11, Coco was rushed to MVS with major issues. Dr. Clark, the vet on duty, determined she has "Aspirated Pneumonia". Her temperature was 106.5. The blood panel indicated she is anemic but no transfusion is needed yet. She is in critical ICU on supplemental oxygen, 2 antibiotics, and fluids. Her temperature was at 103.5 the next morning, Sunday, March 12. We will get updates 2ce a day and will be called if there are major changes. If there is any way to help Coco by donating to her medical expenses, we would appreciate it so much. If you have questions you can call our director, Donna Hadley, at (901)485-4303. Donations can be sent via Paypal to [email protected] or via Venmo to -1.

Please bring your pets into the house when itâs too cold and encourage your neighbors to do the same. Indoor crates, laundry rooms, baby gates, or even garages should be considered if youâre not able to give them full access to the house. A friendâs house is also an option.
Please help Coco enjoy her remaining years with joy and no pain! Shih Tzu and Precious Paws Rescue is raising money to cover expenses for a surgery that removed large mammary tumors that were keeping her from living her best life. Coco has many good years left and deserves the best life. The surgery required removal of enlarged mammary glands. Our goal is to pay these expenses and the cost of continued care.
Coco was taken to Memphis Animal Shelter on May 19 as an owner surrender. Shih Tzu and Precious Paws rescued her and brought her into a home to live her best life. The vet determined she was overweight with a clasping trachea, hernia, and large mammary tumor. These issues were the reason for the owner surrender.
Coco was immediately placed on a strict diet which resulted in the loss of a few pounds and relief from the coughing issues associated with her trachea.
In September, Coco began hemorrhaging and was rushed to Memphis Veterinary Services where it was determined she had not been spayed by the previous owner and was suffering from Pyometra, a life-threatening condition. She remained in critical care for a week and was released into care for recovery. This girl is a fighter. She completely recovered then had to face another hurdle, the enlarged mammary tumors. This was an extensive surgery for her.

Meet the predecessor to dog rescuers, Camberley Kate!
In 1943 Kate bought a cottage in Yorktown, and soon afterwards took in her first stray, a dog which had been about to be put down due to lameness.
As word grew, the number of dogs in her cottage increased â some being tied to her door, some left in carrier bags, others brought in by the police or other agencies. At the end of her life she estimated that she had looked after more than 600 dogs and local vet Geoffrey Craddock, a great admirer of Kate work testified that they were well looked after. An entry in the 1957 directory FOR Camberley reads âWard K 218 London Road., Cam., Dogs Homeâ. In 1976 she stated that she had 34 dogs, although by 1977 she had cut this down to 19, as she had been told to go easier at the age of 82! The growth of other dog rescue centres helped in this regard. She also had at least one cat.
Kate and her olive-green painted hand cart, labelled STRAY DOGS, was a familiar sight locally as she pushed it from Yorktown to Camberley each day, through the town centre and up to Barossa Common, on a route suggested by the police. Some of the dogs were allowed to ride in the cart, others were attached to it with lengths of string, and occasionally a favoured few ran loose alongside. Inside the cart, there was usually some meat for the dogs and a shovel to clean any mess away. The dogs were controlled with the help of a whistle. Locals became used to the sight of Kate pushing her cart along the busy London Road although it never ceased to amaze outsiders.
As a local celebrity Kate and her dogs were much photographed, a situation she tolerated as long as the photographer gave a donation for the upkeep of the animals. She also sold her own photographic postcards, and gave short shrift to those who tried to take their own pictures. Generous supporters gave money to assist her work and some even left bequests. She was scrupulous that this money should be used only for its intended purpose: the dogs had their own bank account, administered by 2 trustees. She left money in trust for the few dogs left at her death.

We hope you donât forget us this holiday season, especially on Giving Tuesday. â¤ď¸ Our director continues working every single day to help good boys like me and she says the vet cost a lot of money. I gave her some of my treats but she said PayPal and Venmo donations would work better. To fill our stockings with the care we need please send a donation on Venmo to -1 or on PayPal to [email protected]. You may also message us or text our director at (901)485-4303 for instructions on donating directly to our account at the vet. Thank you so much! *tail wags*
