I saw a graffiti tag recently that said "Graffiti keeps rents low." Now, that's some truth. We loved hearing about this new program in Orlando, which addresses the graffiti problem by doing more than just taking the graffiti down.
Orlando's new TAAG program aims to remove and discourage graffiti Reports of graffiti in downtown Orlando are up. There were 62 taggings reported in 2022 and 104 already this year.

Our advice to all business owners who are concerned about crime and safety: LIGHT YOUR PROPERTY PROPERLY. There are very few properties in Memphis that are lit to the Illumination Engineering Society standards. You cannot rely on streetlights for safety. You must take responsibility for your own property. Finally, and most importantly, hire a lighting engineer. We have seen many property owners waste money and create bigger problems by buying and installing the wrong lighting fixtures.
Help make Downtown safer. Please take a few moments to share your thoughts with the Downtown Memphis Commission.

We at SafeWays are shocked and heartbroken at the sudden and untimely passing of our dear colleague Michael Anderson.
Mike first came into contact with SafeWays providing security to our team members during a large project relating to Downtown safety and lighting. He demonstrated a natural aptitude for the work we do and a commitment to every person's right to live in peace and safety. It wasn't long before he joined our team as a Compliance Specialist.
Mike was a reliable and hardworking colleague who was a lot of fun to be around. He will be sorely missed, both as a friend and colleague. Our deepest condolences to all of his friends and family.
Rest in peace, Mike.

Kia and Hyundai vehicles are frequent targets in Memphis vehicle thefts There has been a 53% increase in vehicle thefts through the end of November compared to 2021. Almost half of those stolen are two models.
Auto thefts are at incredibly high levels, especially in apartment complexes. If you have an Infiniti, Kia, Hyundai, or Dodge, you are especially at risk. Wheel locks (like "the Club") work to deter thefts. They retail for between $30-50. If you or someone you know needs one and can't afford it, Memphis Police are hosting a giveaway.
