Thomas Berryhill-Drums
Never assume that us being quiet means we’re not busy. We have one song at 95% and a date scheduled this month for another new one. Were trying to get a few in the bank before we start laying the heat upon you. Believe me when I say that 2024 is going to be a much busier year for us. We've missed the stage, we've missed all of you, and when we return it will be the best version of Oceans Divide Us that we've ever been. All the love in the world 🤘🖤
Lastly, this is Thomas. He was also one of the founding members of ODU, and has been laying the foundation of our music ever since. He is an absolute anomaly of a drummer, as his style, technicality and songwriting abilites are astronomical and have been a cornerstone in our writing processes over the years. He also lends his voice to the mix, always adding quite a bit of ferocity to our material. Not only is he an absolutely astonishing musician, but he has also given ODU a space to rehearse every week over the last couple years, and has done so with a smile. Show him some love, ladies and gentlemen. 🍻
Then there is this beautiful man. Craig Shumway. We met Craig almost 5 years ago playing shows with Honoré. From day one I could tell there was something about him, a touch of destiny if you will. His voice and his songwriting carried all the emotion and passion we've always wished for in a singer. His songwriting speaks for itself. Thats not it though. This dude is so excited, and so devoted to his craft that its stunning to watch and listen. The first demo he sent us when we were talking about him joining was a mind-blowing rewrite of a song we had already had laid out. We were shook, willing to do whatever we needed to do to make sure he was the guy behind the mic. Both of our previous singers helped us move down the path, but the end of that road was always Craig. He and his incredible mustache were the missing pieces of our grand design and we love having him with us.
Member spotlight #3. Matthew Mannon. When Scott stepped away from the band, we didn't hold auditions. We told Vince to make the call. Matt and Vince have been making music together since they were kids. It was a no brainer. A guitarist that writes stellar songs, he sings, he screams, and he has been 100% ODU since he walked in. He allowed us to move in the direction we wanted to go without missing a step. Not only does he hold down guitar and back up vocals but he also does the majority of the synth and backing tracks that you'll hear on this album. A good band is one where everyone knows their job and pulls their weight. Matt carries the weight of 3 and is always happy to do it. We are truly blessed with talented members in this band and Matt is a prime example of how the right chemistry makes all the difference. 🤘Horns high for this man. Hes earned it.
Next up is the bass king, Vince Hamilton. When we were still learning our sound the bass position came up and I knew who to call. I never had a doubt in my mind that Vince would bring all the sauce. More of our songs have been written around his tasty bass lines than anything else. We've never had to question his dedication. We never had to doubt that he would show up and give 110%. The dude has a straight up God given gift for creating stupidly thick bass lines and never stops trying to get better. It has been an absolute blessing to have him in the band. The best songs we have, were pulled from his beautiful mind. Give this man some love.
Over the past 5 years this band has been through alot of changes. I thought it would be a good idea to reintroduce everyone since were basically born again. This is Anthony. Hes the longest standing member of the band and an absolutely brilliant guitar player to say the least. Not only does he shred, but he is also the recording engineer/producer for pretty much everything weve ever recorded. His knowledge and dedication to the music has been crucial for this band. He has spent countless late nights staring at the screens, tweaking tones and trying new ways to make our music stand out. Im proud to call him my brother in music and I can't wait to show you what he has helped us create. Photo by Kurt Lunsford Photo
In just over a week, we begin tracking final vocals for our first full length album. Almost all instruments are recorded already. Get excited! It's happening. Its a completely different animal. We're stoked.🤘 Kurt Lunsford Photo

Patience, Oceans 3.0 is loading....
Time to clock in 😈
That face you make when tracking gets pushed back a week. Oh well. One more week to get even tighter. Still can't wait to show everyone our new music. 🤘❤️
Hello loves. We've been hard at work getting ready to track drums on two new songs on sunday. Should we maybe do a little video coverage during the session? 🤷♂️ Sounds like a good time to us. Hope you are all having a great week. We love you all and can't wait to see you again. As always 🤘❤️.
We did a bit of yelling in a box today. Wonderful chemistry already showing in the demo stage. Can't wait to show the world this one.
Apparently this is how you are supposed to catch a singer in the wild. Gotta pin em down. Gonna throw the man and the stache in the box tomorrow and see what noises come out. 🤘for quality photographs like this one hit up Kurt Lunsford Photo
Gotta love a working title 🤣🤣. But hey, looks like enough to play a show to us. 🧐🤘
Let's give a shout out to one of our guitar players Matt for his birthday today!
A little tour of the place we as a band call home. We've put forth alot of effort to make sure the place we work is as functional yet inspiring as possible. Also our songs "Moments" and "Pillory of Lace" have both passed 25k streams on spotify so we are pretty proud of that too. We are incredibly excited to show you all whats next! We miss you and love you all. 🤘
The moment when Kurt Lunsford says "now look at each other"...so we all look at Vince. 🤣🤣. Everyone have a great week. We love you all.
When Tim left the band, we sat down and had a long discussion about whether or not starting back over with a new singer was even worthwhile. Bands come and go and we accept that as part of the music game. While having that discussion we almost all had the same idea at the same time. So we reached out to one of the most talented singer/songwriters that we knew. We didn't know how it would work but we knew he was the guy and we had to find a way. Enter Craig Shumway . His past work with Honoré spoke to us. So we sent him some instrumentals for some new tracks we've written and he BLEW US AWAY. The very first one he sent us completely changed our perception of the song as we knew it. We haven't been this excited about making music in a very long time and we hope you all will get excited and welcome Craig and his incredible mustache to the ODU family and be ready. The next time we get together we're gonna put him in the box and start tracking. Can't wait to get back to playing shows. We miss you all too much. Until then.... 🤘. Big love to Kurt Lunsford Photo for the awesome photos on short notice.
Keep your eyes peeled. Big news coming in the next few days. 🎤
Hello lovely peoples. We know we have been quiet. We miss you all very much, but we have been buried in the work, trying to prepare an album for you all to jam to. We have a vocalist that we aren't ready to introduce yet, I'll just say he is an absolute king and will bring all the spices to our music from here forward. We have 5 new songs in various phases of tracking and we all can't wait to let everyone in on them. As always we love you all and can't wait to get back to playing shows and hanging with our friends.
Sad post incoming*
It breaks my heart to say that Tim Spencer has decided to step away from the band. We appreciate the time he was with us and hope for the best for him moving forward. That being said, we refuse to let this beat us. We have been evolving from within and working on the most powerful and technical music we have ever made and we see no reason to stop now. As for who's voice will be on the new songs we do not fully know yet. What we do know is that we will continue to push out music that makes the four core players in the band happy and fulfilled. We love you all so very much and we appreciate the patience in the ever-evolving entity that is Oceans Divide Us.
Happy friday loves. What new albums are we all jamming to today? We have a few things left to do on our next single and we will be ready to blow you all away asap. Get ready for until then, we love you all. Stay safe, stay beautiful.
A fresh coat of paint for Oceans Hq. Always hard at work to bring more content for you all to enjoy. Can't wait for you all to hear what we've been doing.
💥We want to take a minute to say how much fun these last two shows have been!!💥
▪️First off, playing with Islander and Norma Jean was an honor, and both bands were absolutely phenomenal. Big thanks to Ross Shackelford for the amazing photos!! (Don't know why we can't tag you, Ross. 😥)
▪️Secondly, playing with Grimmwood and Hassleinone at Change Skate Shop in Tupelo was so much fun! Both bands killed their sets! The venue was really cool and unique, and everyone that showed up there was really genuinely nice. Thanks to everyone that came out to support local music!!
▪️LASTLY, we will be taking a few months off from playing shows to focus solely on writing/recording new music for you all. Thank you all so much. See you soon.
Come out and see us tonight at Growlers, along with heavy hitters Islander and Norma Jean! 🍻
Next Saturday! New crowd, new spot. We're ready for this one. Grimmwood kills it, and we're stoked to check out Hassleinone! Come out, grab a board and rip it up, and listen to some sick tunes!🤘
