We couldn’t let Nurse’s Week pass without shouting out the best there is. Nurses are the heart of Le Bonheur. Whether they are working in our inpatient units, in an acute care setting, in our clinics throughout the region, or out in the community, nurses are making a difference in the lives of children and their families. Thank you to every Le Bonheur nurse for the work you do every day.

We were thrilled to celebrate our local Walmart and Sam's Club stores at the Memphis Botanical Gardens Last year, they raised more than $620,000 for the kids at Le Bonheur. This year they hope to raise more than $800,000! Their campaign officially kicks off on June 10. Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make a difference in the lives of these amazing kids. Together we are making miracles happen.

We were thrilled to have the talented singers and performers from Collegiate School of Memphis bring joy to our surgical waiting area at Le Bonheur Children's. Their beautiful voices uplifted spirits and soothed hearts of those waiting during their child's surgery. Thank you for sharing your gift with us!

The McLaughlin Family Story
Brittney and Matt McLaughlin were overjoyed to welcome triplets in January 2019 at a hospital near their Mississippi home. Shortly after birth, doctors discovered that one of the babies, Miller, had amniotic band syndrome which was causing major circulation issues and had prevented her leg and foot from properly developing. At less than 1 day old, Miller was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s via ambulance to receive expert care. Much to her parents’ relief, Le Bonheur doctors determined that Miller would be able to keep her leg. Over the past five years, Miller has undergone six surgeries at Le Bonheur and is likely to undergo more in the future. Since their first visit to Le Bonheur, the McLaughlins have called FedExFamilyHouse their home away from home. They have found a place of comfort and hope where they can be together as a family while Miller receives the care she needs. “We are so grateful for FedExFamilyHouse and its supporters,” Brittney and Matt said. “Our stay there provided us with peace of mind, comfort and a sense of normalcy during the single most stressful period of our lives.”

NICU, Cath Lab and MRI Ribbon Cuttings
We recently celebrated a big step in our critical care expansion. The new hybrid cardiac catheterization lab with its attached MRI suite and an additional 14 beds in our NICU are officially open to help patients! This will help further our commitment to providing the best possible care to our patients and families who depend on us.

Child Abuse Awareness
In 2023, our Trauma Team cared for 112 patients for non-accidental traumas. 65 of those patients were younger than 1. The injuries ranged from fractures in the skull, arms, spine and legs to burns. The patients spanned across all ethnicities and races. We are often left wondering, was there a point at which someone could have intervened? A relative? A friend? A neighbor? Reporting suspected abuse is mandated by law. But can we do better as a community? Research shows that promoting healthy families helps prevent child maltreatment.

2024 Easter
Happy Easter! We celebrated with some egg-citing activities and joy for our patients and families. From egg hunts to crafts, face painting and special visits from the Easter Bunny, we're spreading smiles and cheer throughout the hospital.
