Tiana is a proud mother of 4 children and has been a community activist for most of her life; even before she knew it. She actively works on bridging the disparities in community development, health care and breastfeeding in Memphis, Tennessee and beyond; by helping to create opportunities to support the much needed work. She continues to be entrenched in this work to honor her ancestral heritage and in efforts to leave a good example for her legacy to live by and to be proud of.
As the Executive Director for the Community Development Corporation Orange Mound, The Tennessee Breastfeeding Coalition, a co-founder of BSTARS (Breastfeeding Sisters That Are Receiving Support), and the Chair for the United States Breastfeeding Committee, Ms. Pyles understands that in order to truly help and empower families to be prosperous in their communities, it takes a “circle of support.” This “circle of support” must include family, adequate education and health care, affordable, quality housing options, peer support and good neighbors. Tiana is instrumental in forging networking partnerships at local, state and national levels in order to better serve the community, city and state she is vested in, and loves.

Come learn from her at the FREE event this Saturday. Register here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nurturing-black-memphis-mamas-registration-312086187187
Amari is a wife, mother of 3, and community woman born and raised here in the heart of South Memphis and Orange Mound. She travelled away for college to become an OB, but was quickly rerouted back home to remember the ways her ancestors cared & nurtured for women before colonialism. This spiritual journey led her to sit at the feet of women to traditionally learn how to activate her gift of support for carrying mamas. She’s no modern doula, she’s a traditional doula that focuses on the spiritual aspect of pregnancy, labor, and birth. She’s certified and validated by the elders, ancestors, and community to assist women as they navigate the magnetic shift of pregnancy. Her goal as a doula is to assist women in intuitively navigating their rites of passage known as Labor & Birth. This support has led sisters to remember the truth of who they are as woman, mother, daughter, wife, and sister.
