As the sun sets on this chapter, we’re gearing up for an exciting new adventure – our after-school program! 🎒✨ But we can’t do it alone. The impact seems overwhelming. On this World Refugee Day, we invite you to walk alongside refugees who are building new lives for themselves and their families in Memphis. What’s happening at REP? We are kicking off Women’s History Month by celebrating our own future history makers. The young women who take part in our PreK-12 program work extremely hard to reach their goals. At REP, we are dedicated to uplifting and encouraging every young woman to pursue her dreams and rise above adversity. This month we are extra appreciative of the dedication these women have for their futures. Happy Women’s History Month!

What does it mean to love your neighbor? ❤️ For us, it means supporting and advocating for our communities in any way we can. This Valentine’s Day @mytownmiracles and REP teamed up to show our students how much they mean to their neighbors in Memphis! REP’s Youth Advisory Council played an integral part of the process to curate intentional care packages for over 200 kids in grades PreK-12. Thank you for your generous support!

Students in REP’s STARS Elementary program celebrated the end of the first half of the school year with a Wakanda Forever party and a visit from Hawa Ceesay (and the Black Panther!) Hawa spoke with the students about her experience with being bullied while at school, and shared tips on how to deal with bullies and how to be kinder to others. African Union Youth Ambassador Achaleke Christian Leke from Cameroon also visited to meet and encourage students that they can also overcome the difficulties of being in a new country and culture through hard work and perseverance. The festivities continued with food, a dance contest, and a special appearance by the Black Panther!

We all know that brains retain through APPLICATION. A group of amazing REP volunteers with Rhodes College Society of Physics helped close out the school year by hosting an Egg Drop at Rhodes College for local students, including many REP participants! Our activity to apply the scientific principles we learned this year involved TEAM WORK, CREATIVITY, FUN, and good old COMPETITION! Together we enjoyed designing, building and painting egg cases in anticipation of the highlight of the day - DROPPING THEM OFF OF RHODES TOWER! We had a blast! Special CONGRATULATIONS to D'Jadda who won for creating the lightest case that protected an egg from the fall! THANK YOU SO MUCH to our friends from Rhodes College Society of Physics for such an exciting end to the school year! We can't wait to see you again in the Fall!
