Meanwhile, the latest update is as follows:
Germantown remains under an order to use water only for flushing toilets. Crews have worked overnight to resolve the issue resulting in restricted water usage.
Public Works is in the process of flushing and neutralizing the system with testing expected by late afternoon.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation must provide clearance before the restriction on water usage is lifted.
The City is working with suppliers to provide bottled water to those who are in critical need and unable to access bottled water on their own and/or do not have transportation. Information about a point of distribution will be provided as soon as confirmed.

Paving is coming on Dogwood!
Beginning on Monday, March 13, the City’s contractor will begin a pavement reclamation project along Dogwood Road, from Kimbrough Road to Lansingwood Drive. The process involves taking the existing asphalt and pulverizing it, tearing it up, reclaiming it and making a new base layer using a combination of the recycled pavement along with cementitious material.
Over the years, this roadway has experienced surface failures, which require frequent asphalt overlays to keep it in good shape. The full-depth reclamation of the roadway base and asphalt layers will result in a longer lasting and safer roadway. Dogwood Road from Kimbrough Road to Birchton Drive was chosen for pavement reclamation during fiscal year 2023 during the. The portion of Dogwood Road from Kimbrough Road to Lansingwood Drive, is the first of three phases of reclamation that will be completed along Dogwood Road. In fiscal year 2024, Public Works intends to ask the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to consider the second phase which would continue along Dogwood Road from Birchton Drive to Brachton Avenue. A third and final phase of the reclamation project is planned from Brachton Avenue to Forest Hill Irene Road.
The first phase of the roadway work is expected to last approximately two months, weather permitting. While one side of the road is stabilized and paved, all traffic will be diverted to the other side of the road and vice versa. Two way traffic will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. In addition, access to the private driveways and the St. George's Independent School campus will be maintained. Solid waste, recycling and yard waste collections will also continue as scheduled for residents along the project site.
Motorists are encouraged to choose an alternate route, if they are able to, throughout the extent of this project.

Thank you, Germantown! We delivered four envelopes of LOVE to those families whose homes burned! They were so very thankful. Two were families with kids and will be able to replace some immediately needed items due to your kindness and generosity. We wil continue to collect the gift cards for them at BankTennessee Germantown this month. Sharon Maxwell Harrison and Kristina Wyatt Garner

Someone close to us retired from the City of Germantown, Tennessee Government today. He worked tirelessly getting demolition debris picked up, got dumpsters for homes, and made our flooded homeowners priority in 2019 and into 2020. Happy Retirement Joe Nunes!!!

We will UPDATE tomorrow but for now know the family we are starting with is two adult ladies, mother and daughter and then will need clothing and “stuff”. Target, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc is a good place to start.

Since 9/11, the number of veterans that have committed su***de is FOUR TIMES higher than the number of deaths in combat. Read that again. This is a reminder that this long weekend isn’t just about epic deals, parades, and the start of summer.
So whether you’re traveling, heating up the barbecue, or just chillin’, please take a moment to honor and remember the men and women who have bravely served this country - not just on Memorial Day, but everyday. By donating to a veterans’ organization, su***de prevention crisis center or just spending time listening to veterans, YOU can make a difference.
Recently, one of Germantown’s citizens was honored for her volunteerism as she moving back to her hometown of Hattiesburg. We will miss you Robyn Rudisill!! Thanks for all you did for Germantown!
