NO PRACTICE TONIGHT❗️
From Freistadt 4th of July to Milwaukee German Fest, it’s been a busy month for all of us at PTF.
We’d like to thank everyone who has volunteered their time over the past month to make these events a success! Your support of our organization and Milwaukee’s German-American community as a whole do not go unnoticed.
There will be NO practice for any of our groups tonight. Please rest up and enjoy this short break! We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, August 6th for our next quarterly membership meeting.
It’s the last day of German Fest!

Everything you need to know about joining PTF! ⤵️
We always welcome inquiries for new membership and invite you to send us a message if you are interested in joining our group!
We will find a date for you to attend one of our practices at no cost, where you can meet our directors and get an idea for what being a member looks like before you commit to joining.
These are some of the membership roles at PTF ⤵️
Dancer 💃🏼🕺🏻
Practice and perform traditional Pomeranian folk dances! We have three dance groups that accommodate a variety of ages: Lütten is for dancers ages 5-8, Backfische is for dancers ages 9-13, and Jugend/Erwachsenen is for dancers 14+. All groups practice once per week on Tuesday evenings.
Musician 🪗
Practice and perform traditional Pomeranian folk songs alongside our dancers! Our musicians, known as the Pommersche Späldeel Freistadt, provide live accompaniment for our dancers and attend all dance practices. Our musicians have included accordionists, guitarists, bassists, violinists, flutists, clarinetists, and more, but let us know what instrument you play and we can see if we have music for you!
🧵 Sewist
Create, oversee, and repair traditional Pomeranian tracht (clothing)! Our team of sewists creates the majority of our group’s tracht in-house, which is worn by all dancers and musicians. New members will need custom-fitted tracht made before they can perform, while existing members may need alterations or repairs.
🎙️ Sound Technician & Stage Crew
These lower-commitment roles are needed to assist at shows only. Sound technicians help with the setup, takedown, and live monitoring of our acoustics at performances, while stage crew members arrive before and after events to help setup and takedown our stage.
Send us a message or leave a comment below with questions about membership at PTF — and, if you haven’t already, stop by one of our upcoming performances to see what we’re all about!

Also, home of the Trinity-Freistadt Historical Site. Their site boasts that it contains 11 buildings open for tours. It used to say 12 buildings. You see, last year they lost a building to a fire, and they could use some help with restorations. There will be a benefit event at Old Germantown (link to event in comments below). Enjoy freshly brewed beer, homemade sausage, and pizza while supporting the restoration of the Historic Site after the August 2023 fire. Old Germantown will donate 10% of all sales toward the restoration efforts.
Our fans know about our “Gloria Dollars” The dollars you place in our socks that go to so many good things. We used those dollars to help restore the electrical power that was needed after the fire. Gloria dollars collected on this night will also go to the barn-raising fund.
Pommersche Späldeel Freistadt and the Freistadt Alte Kameranden will be providing entertainment in a casual setting.
We’ll see you at Mai Fest Germantown this afternoon!

The G*I is excited to welcome the Pommersche Tanzdeel Freistadt to the grounds for Deutsche Tage this year! Hailing from Western Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, the site of the oldest German settlement in the state, Pomeranian immigrants continued their customs, traditions, songs and dances, as well as the use of their native language, Plattdeutsch (Low German), in their new home well into the middle of the 20th century.
Pommersche Tanzdeel Freistadt was organized in 1977 to preserve the folk culture of their forefathers by performing songs and dances from the Pomeranian regions, and will perform Saturday and Sunday! To learn more about Deutsche Tage and see all our performers and vendors, visit gaimn.org/deutschetage-2024

Celebrating 414 Day in our Milwaukee home!
PTF has called metro Milwaukee home since 1977, while Pomeranians have lived in the area since 1839. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of performing at some of the city’s most iconic events and venues, including German Fest, Milwaukee Oktoberfest, Holiday Folk Fair International, and more.
A variety of ethnic dance groups, representing other cultural communities who’ve also called this city home over the years, perform alongside us at the city’s many multicultural festivals, including some who represent other Germanic peoples. We are honored to be a part of such a vibrant cultural community!
A group of PTF members spent Monday watching the solar eclipse from the path of totality in Illinois!
This unofficial road trip was the first of three out-of-state trips PTF will take this year! You can add the other two — Deutsche Tage in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 8-9 and Christkindlmarket Des Moines in Iowa on December 7-8 — to your calendar, as we have public performances scheduled at both events!
You’re invited to the Freistadt Heritage Foundation’s annual fundraising event!
Join us, the Pommerscher Verein, the Alte Kameraden Band, and the Lindenwood 4-H Club at Circle B Recreation in Cedarburg on Friday, April 19th as we fundraise in support of the Lindenwood School Community Center we call home 🏠💛
This fun annual event includes —
➡️ Dinner catered from Prime Minister
➡️ An extensive silent auction
➡️ Performances from PTF and AK
…plus an opportunity to meet and socialize with members of the Freistadt community!
Tickets for dinner and entertainment cost $25 for adults ($10 for children 4-12) and can be purchased via cash or check in advance. Entertainment-only tickets cost $5 and can be purchased upon arrival.
