Meridian, have you noticed the changes to our beautiful city?

Do you know why??

Bike lanes and oversized sidewalks are paid for by the federal government via conditional grants. After a city accepts the money, they are mandated to implement high density housing like you see all along Franklin Rd. and Pine. The same goes for bus routes. That’s called a transit corridor and municipalities are mandated to rezone residential districts. This leads to ADU’s or Accessory Dwelling Units (Granny Units) to meet density requirements. Parking is not allowed to be factored in. Lack of services such as schools and fire departments are not factored in. This ultimately leads to overcrowding of residential neighborhoods, blight and seriously increased crime rates.

This must be stopped at all costs!!

Meridian just got a bus route and crime is already on the rise. Have you noticed the public transit buses around town that have the windows covered by advertising? That’s done intentionally to hide the fact that the buses are EMPTY and being heavily subsidized by YOUR taxpayer dollars for union jobs.

Who is responsible for this?

Robert Simison, Joe Borton, Treg Bernt, Luke Cavener, Liz Strader, Brad Hoaglun and Jessica Perreault

In case you missed it...
The Statesman newspaper ran my Editorial on why our new Attorney General's office is taking a different course, and winning. Sharing with you below.

I CHARTED MY OWN PATH ON THE WOTUS CHALLENGE, DESPITE CRITICISM. AND I WAS RIGHT
Opinion By Raul Labrador

The Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rules proposed by the Biden administration are overreaching, extreme, and, if implemented in Idaho, harmful to our economy and freedoms. The Biden administration not only brought the Obama rule back — but expanded it. Now, nearly every droplet of water in the U.S. could be controlled and regulated by the federal government.

The Biden WOTUS rules would subject Idaho citizens to massive federal overreach on their own land and hamper Idaho job creators. They would create a barrier for Idaho’s farmers, ranchers, and small businesses that depend on access to their land and Idaho resources.

That is why my team and I worked hard to evaluate these new regulations for their legality and then pick the best strategy possible to shield Idaho from their harmful effects. The result has been an initial big legal win for the State of Idaho.

A federal court has ruled in our favor, granting both Idaho and Texas a preliminary injunction against implementing these rules in our states.

We won this initial victory because I decided to join Texas in this legal effort rather than join a different lawsuit advocated by others.

Joining the other lawsuit would have been easier because it only required us to do minimal work. But joining the Texas lawsuit required more strategic thinking and more legal work by our attorneys. As this victory demonstrates, my decision to join the Texas lawsuit was not only right but also made Idaho a leader in the fight forstate sovereignty.

During my campaign, I promised to assemble the best legal team the Office ofAttorney General had ever seen. I brought back the solicitor general role to Idahoand hired top litigators who are smart, aggressive and strategic. Our team broughtmeaningful contributions to this case, and because of the savvy legal minds handlingthis litigation, we got the correct result and the quickest relief for Idaho. Today, theseterrible new regulations are in the process of being implemented in 48 other states, while Idaho and Texas have received a reprieve as our full lawsuit moves forward.

Various editorial boards, political pundits, members of the governor’s team and U.S. Congressman Mike Simpson publicly chastised me for joining the Texas lawsuit and accused me of not leading on this issue. They advocated that my team and I take a different course. They claimed that I was putting my interests ahead of the interests of Idaho.

Ironically, the other lawsuit has yet to move forward. Who is leading now? And what have we heard from my many critics - silence.

I appreciate my naysayers expressing concern over these rules. In fact, it was a welcomed surprise to see some of Idaho’s most liberal newspapers advocating for state sovereignty.

Our office’s strategic decisions in this case resulted in Idaho winning an initial victory against these rules.

This action alone demonstrates why challenges against overreaching federal incursions and the legal strategy employed are best left in the purview of the Attorney General’s Office, where it belongs, rather than in the back-room discussions of government bureaucrats and the media.

As promised, my team and I will continue to be proactive in the Attorney General’s Office, defending Idaho’s sovereignty and our personal freedoms.

Last Friday, March 10, 2023, when most in the Idaho Legislature took time off to honor the life of former Governor Phil Batt, a handful of legislators pushed through a resolution calling for amnesty for illegal immigrants!

Senators TREG BERNT (District 21), Linda Hartgen, Chuck Winder, and Reps. Judy Boyle, Chenele Dixon, Rod Furniss, Stephanie Mickelsen, Jack Nelson, and Jerald Raymond co-sponsored Senate Joint Memorial 101, which calls for the federal government to reform our immigration system. SJM 101 includes an explicit call for amnesty of illegal aliens currently working in the United States.

Rather than holding a public hearing on the measure, Senate leadership sent the proposal straight to the floor for a vote. On Monday, conservative senators moved to send it back to a committee where it belonged so that the public could weigh in. But the motion was voted down. Not only that, but Sen. Winder chastised them for daring to do such a thing!

Does Sen. Winder — the President Pro Tempore of the Idaho Senate — represent legal citizens or illegal migrants? Does he answer to the people of Idaho or to the big businesses who want to import a servant class of cheap labor? Does he care at all about the flood of fentanyl, other drugs, and human trafficking across our borders? Border security should be the priority.

Senate leadership is afraid to allow SJM 101 to get a committee hearing because they’re afraid of what the public has to say. They want to rush this memorial through without any feedback from you!

Second, the Idaho Senate passed Senate Bill 1147 to fund abortion education and transgender medicine at Idaho’s only publicly-funded medical school. The Idaho WWAMI program is a program that allows the University of Washington to operate a medical school on the University of Idaho campus. The program teaches all medical students how to perform abortions and to provide transgender health care as a basic part of becoming your next family doctor.

Sen. Scott Herndon attempted to send Senate Bill 1147 back to the Joint Finance - Appropriations Committee, but this proposal was shot down. The fact that this budget literally violates state law did not seem to matter.

These two issues demonstrate why party affiliation is a distraction. It doesn’t matter what politicians say on the campaign trail — what matters is how they vote.

I’m very disappointed in our District 21 Representatives for voting against election integrity.

The Idaho Launch bill (H24) passed the House today. This is how your district 21 Representatives voted....

Two hours of debate concluded with the narrow passage of this bill (36-34) and another defeat for Constitutional principle and the Idaho taxpayer. The biggest take away will be the establishment of yet another new government program that will continue to increase in cost, as virtually all government programs do. This is Governor Little's bill, which will benefit his corporate cronies (Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, or IACI) by reducing training costs for Idaho Big Business; costs which businesses and corporations should be paying–NOT the Idaho taxpayer.
But how will it benefit our graduating students? Those choosing to attend out-of-state college or other training are not allowed to apply. Students who apply and receive this $8,500 will have strings attached (which they should), including payback for non-completion, and limitations to enrollment for “in-demand” career paths, as determined by the Workforce Development Council. Essential vs. non-essential? Choosing winners and losers? Unfortunately, YES! And, no guarantee that these students, once graduated, will stay in Idaho.
What happened to working for what you get? Many of us were incensed that President Biden pushed for student loan forgiveness. How is this any different? If this bill becomes law, what's next? Remember the Medicaid Expansion program? It has already ballooned from the original $400 million to over $1 BILLION in just a few short years.

How many of us worked our way through college or other training, maybe even had to pause and work to earn enough to get through the next semester? This is our hard earned tax money, which should be returned to the Idaho taxpayers, not appropriated into a well-intentioned but wholly unconstitutional program.
This is another redistribution of Idaho taxpayer monies. While the legislature is Constitutionally obligated to fund K-12, after-high school choices should be the responsibility of the individual.

One more point: A majority of the long-serving legislators opposed Idaho Launch because they know once a government program is initiated, it never ends. Our legislature is the only shield against government overreach. This is NOT the proper role of government. Justice Clarence Thomas has said, "The hard case is where your heart really wants to do something for somebody and the law says you have no authority. That's when you see whether or not you are a judge or you're lawless." This applies very well to those individuals serving as legislators. Do they have the righteous authority to obligate Idaho taxpayers to pay for high school graduates' additional schooling? As one representative testified, “We have no business starting this program.”

Contact your representatives and communicate according to their vote today.

And let your senator (Treg Bernt) know this pricey boondoggle must NOT pass the Senate!

For anyone who is confused about this “question” on the ballot....

Here is the timeline...

This bill (H0001 - https://legislature.idaho.gov/sessioninfo/2022spcl/legislation/H0001/) was introduced in the September special session and was was unconstitutional.

Why??

There should only be 1 topic in a bill and this has 2 (tax "relief" and education).

Republicans wanted tax relief and felt backed into a corner. Democrats wanted the money to go to education so there was a spirited debate on the House floor. Heather Scott tried to split the bill, but that request was voted down. The way things shook out, the tax part went to a 5% blanket tax for everyone, raised taxes on the poor and lowered taxes for businessess.

Then came the far left Reclaim Idaho ballot initiative and the Quality Education Act.

This “question“ now appears to have replaced those and gives more to education even though CRT models are continuing, agendas are being embedded in school assignments, books are inappropriate, school boards (BSD) won't listen or care to hear from parents that push back against their agenda. Even Universities...

This is only the tip of the iceberg folks. Please vote DISAPPROVE!!
