CORBIN RUESCHENBERG TEAMS UP WITH TANNER THORSON FOR CHILI BOWL DEBUT
MESA, ARIZONA (January 6, 2024) – 14-year-old Corbin Rueschenberg of Mesa, Ariz. will become one of the youngest competitors in the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals history in 2024, competing in the 38th annual event in Tulsa, Oklahoma this week. Rueschenberg will drive a new Spike Chassis prepared by 2022 Chili Bowl Champion Tanner Thorson of Minden, Nevada.
He will drive the No. 26R in Tuesday night’s qualifying night, with support from Steffey Excavating, Arizona Luxury Garage, MB2 Industries, CHI Overhead Doors, and Genie Corporation.
Rueschenberg competed in the Xtreme Outlaw Midget and POWRi National Midget series as a 13-year-old rookie in 2023 with 11 top-ten finishes including a pair of fifth-place runs. He also earned several strong runs throughout a busy Micro Sprint campaign as well. Rueschenberg is a former champion of the Sooner Speedweek with 10 career NOW600 National wins.
Rueschenberg tuned up for the Chili Bowl by competing in the Tulsa Shootout last weekend in four divisions, including earning an 11th starting position in the Non-Wing Outlaw championship feature on Sunday.
“I’m super grateful to get to race the Chili Bowl! I can’t wait to learn and see how we do. As a Midget driver I feel like I’ve grown so much in learning what the setups feel like and learning what I need from the cars,” Rueschenberg said. “Shootout was pretty successful and it was good to get some laps in the building before the Chili Bowl. I have a guy in my corner in Tanner Thorson who knows how to win. I just got to do my job. I’d love to make the A-Main on the prelim night and can’t wait to compete against some of the best in the world.”
Thorson approaches his role with Rueschenberg seeing a lot of himself in the young driver.
“I was there at one point so I get the challenges,” Thorson said. “I feel like I have a good sense for what needs to be done now, obviously now that I’m older. He’s a hell of a wheelman. It’s not just a matter of going out there and running good. It’s about having the best prepared race cars and I feel we have all the right pieces of the puzzle for Corbin’s sake. Me and my team are excited to work with him!”
Among the sponsors supporting Rueschenberg’s maiden voyage in the Chili Bowl will be Steffey Excavating. The late Dan Steffey and the Steffey family have supported dirt track racing from their home state of Arizona and beyond.
“To have their support means everything to me,” Rueschenberg said. “Dan and I were great friends. Having him on my car is a great honor.”
On track activity begins Sunday with a pair of hot lap sessions for each driver before racing competition begins with preliminary qualifying nights Monday through Friday. Rueschenberg’s action can be followed live on Tuesday night on www.FloRacing.com
I would like to reach out and express my deepest gratitude to my friend and his family who was one of my biggest racing fan and supporter Chris Williams who just past away. This weekend I will be racing in DeQuoin Illinois at the POWRi Knepper 55 what could be classified as the headbangers ball of Motorsports.
Chris will be racing with me as I try to gain my first Special event Miget Win! Special thanks to Jenni Drake who made up this wonderful sticker that we’re gonna have on both sides of our car commemorating Chris for being the most amazing race fan to a young driver like me. Chris was an amazing father, loving husband, a dune rat and definitely a headbanger while being great friend to so many. I’m sorry we can’t be at your service Saturday, but while you’re watching down over everyone in heaven you’ll also have a great race to watch this Saterday as well!
I would like to make a announcement that I will be driving for for the rest of the season. In my opinion Tanner is one of the best midget drivers of all time and I am very excited to be able to work with Tanner and learn a lot from him. I cant wait for what these next few races to continue to fight for rookie of the year and a potential National Championship. I will be ready for the first night of the Oklahoma swing at Creek county speedway and if you can’t be there make sure to watch on .
For all you race fans that are looking to have some fun on a video game. Come check out and get the World of Outlaws game!! If you do have it, make sure to get the new update featuring new tracks and midgets into the game. You can also now be piloting the 26 of Corbin Rueschenberg on there. I’d like to thank Xtreme Outlaw Seriesfor letting me be apart of this game. It’s an honor to be one of the drivers on this game and very cool to be apart of.
Today, I am posting this to inform the racing community, my followers, and family members that I have decided to leave Mounce/Stout Motorsports. I want to thank both Jay and Gavin for giving me an opportunity to drive for this team for the better part of my rookie season. This was a hard decision but due to fundamental beliefs and differences between both our teams at JPU and Mounce/Stout, this will be what is best for everyone. I want to thank my parents, my teammates and everyone who has participated in my first Rookie Midget season on the Powri National Tour. My goal now is to finish my last 5 events of the 2023 season as strong as possible and hopefully contend for the Powri Midget National Championship and secure Rookie of the year honors. I will soon announce my future for the remainder of this season and the 2024 Chili Bowl Nationals.
Thank you.
Corbin Rueschenberg

Race recap from last night Qualifying p17 ➡️ p7 Heat race p2 ➡️ p2
Main 4th ➡️ DNF In qualifying I made a couple small mistakes from going quick time. In the heat race track was super hard to get around cars but still managed to challenge for the lead. In the main event was up to 2nd and definitely would’ve had the car to win but lap traffic was getting in the way for me to pass the leader. After a caution I realized the motor was getting to hot and pulled in. gave me the fastest car and motor on the track by far. Hopefully we can have a good night today at lemoore just like we did last night but finish this time. I’d like to thank .racing

It is an honor to drive your guys car and I’m gonna try to put this thing in the winner circle. I’d also like to thank .racing .

Hot laps start at 6:00 PM. Unfortunately this event is not broadcasted but the results will be posted on MyRacePass. Huge thanks to .racing .
Trying something different instead of running dirt I’ll be running pavement since 3 years I haven’t been racing pavement till now. Super excited running at the Las Vegas bullring. Super excited for this opportunity! I would like to thank for giving me the opportunity to drive his car. Cant wait to learn a lot this weekend and use that every time I get on the track
Getting the razors ready for Easter ride.
Super happy of how this weekend went at the opening round of the went. Made progress every time I got on the track and got better. The first night I struggled a lot and was a little rusty from not being in a midget for quite some time. Super close to make the A main but couldn’t. The second night I qualified 4th and never looked back in my heat starting 1st and finishing 1st. It put me starting 9th in the A and got my first top 10 in a midget. I would like to thank the crew for everything they have done for me. They gave me an amazing car and I couldn’t be more happy with them. I would like to also thank .racing without them it wouldn’t be possible
JPU had an amazing weekend at the now600 series opener. We had 5 top 5’s and 6 top 10’s. We could’ve had another win and another top 5 from the team but we had some car malfunctions. Great way to start off the season with a win, 4 top 5’s, 5 top 10’s, and have made all A mains. Super excited for the first race of the extreme midget series next weekend and the turnpike challenge for my next micro race. Hopefully I can start off in Duqoin just like I did here. Really looking forward to working with the mounce/stout crew next weekend. Can’t for what this season comes in the midget and the micro. I would like to thank Grady and Kale. They’ve provided so much for me and have given me an amazing car. Kale was checked out in the race today in non wing but unfortunately he had a part malfunction. I would like to thank .racing
It’s race day at Adobe Mountain speedway for the Dan Steffey memorial. Super excited for the first race of the season! Practice went really well last night and showed lots of speed. I will be racing a class wing and non wing and outlaw non wing this weekend. Hoping to carry on that speed from yesterday to tonight. Practice starts at 5 o’clock if you can’t be there make sure to tune in on . I would also like to thank for giving me the opportunity to drive their house car. This wouldn’t be possible without .racing development
Last night I ran the DRC Sooner State 55 at Port City Raceway. Started off a the night a little weak but improved on later as the night went on. Qualified 6th out of 8. Went from 6 to 4 in the heat which would put me starting 2nd in the B. After winning the B I started 17th in the main and and got 14th. Learned a lot and hoping to use that to I 44 today and tomorrow. Thanks to the crew for everything they did last night. This wouldn’t be possible without

Had a really good night last night at Coles County Speedway yesterday. Struggled early on but got better later in the night. In my heat race I went 3 to 3 and in the A main I went from 9 to 3rd almost getting second to the line. Definitely had the car to win it just made a mistake in the heat. Hopefully I can learn from my mistakes and not make those mistakes today. Thanks to .racing without you guys this wouldn’t be possible.
Excited to be racing the HART - Heartland Auto Racing Tour at Coles County speedway this weekend. I can’t wait to experience two new tracks this weekend. Excited for another Donnie Crawford race at Port City tonight!! Hopes are high for an A main lock in! I had my car dialed in for yesterday’s practice hopefully I can keep the momentum I did in practice and for the weekend.
Highbanks hustle 2022 in the books. This weekend we were really fast just couldn’t hold the position up front with 2 laps to go. The first night I went from 4 to 4 in my heat race. In the qualifier I went from 8th to 4th transferring to the A main. In the main I went from 21st to 13th with a really tough track to pass on. The 2nd night I started 3rd was in 1st but with 2 laps to go I made a mistake and went 3 to 3. In the qualifier I went from 5 to 2 on the first lap but with about 2 laps to go again I got shuffled to 4th. The LCQ started 11th and finished 11th. This weekend I made little mistakes that hurt me the most. It was a learning experience and hopefully I can use that as a advantage to the (DRC) Donnie Ray Crawford. Thanks to the help of .pace and for crewing me. This wouldn’t also be possible with .racing Southwest Overhead garage doors . Without you guys this wouldn’t be possible.
Today is night 1 of the Highbanks Hustle. Felt really good in practice yesterday hopefully we can keep up the momentum today like we did yesterday.
Wednesday through Sunday I will be racing Oklahoma Speedweek that weekend includes 4 different track with 5 nights of racing. Thanks to factor 1 racing for straightening the RF torsion tube on my car for me to be able to race this weekend. Last year I won A class speedweek hopefully I can go back to back and even win the Non wing class division. I am pumped for this weekend and excited. Thanks to and .pace for getting my cars in time for me to race this weekend. If you would like to watch this race it is on now600tv. I would also like to thank , , , , @ Southwest Overhead garage doors. Without you guys this wouldn’t be possible. # Sooner600week
The Big Dance Memorial was a successful weekend overall. The 2nd night after going 5 to 2 in the heat race I forgot to go to scales and got a DQ for my heat race. In the qualifier I went all the way to the back again and came all the way up front again. During the qualifier I made a mistake throwing a slide job and came to short causing me and the person involved to have a DNF. I did not do it on purpose it was just a mistake I made like all drivers do. The final night I went from 5 to 4 in my heat race putting me 6th in the qualifier. In the qualifier I finished 3rd putting me 4th in a LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier). The LCQ I went from 4 to 4 putting me in the A main. After going 20th all the way to 8th with half way to go I got involved into a wreck which ended my weekend. This weekend we were at the results we wanted just never finished in the results we wanted. Thanks to my teammate for crewing me this whole weekend and wish you could’ve had a better weekend. This wouldn’t be possible without. , , , , Southwest overhead doors , , , .
This past weekend I ran at US 24 speedway for wingless A class clash. We didn’t have the results we wanted but learned a lot. The first night in my heat race I went 6 to 6. In my qualifier I went 14 to 12. The second night I went from 4th to 3rd. In my qualifier i went from 8 to 5 one spot away from transferring to the A main. The last night we decided to switch cars from the Ten-j to driven due to setup wise. The last night I went from 4 to 2 in my heat. I started 2nd in my qualifier and technically finished 5th but due to a incident on a restart the race officials put me to 7th. We didn’t get the results we wanted but at the end of the day we learned a lot. This wouldn’t be possible without , , , , overhead garage doors, , ,and the help of . , , .
The 26 machine is ready to be racing non wing and Outlaw at delta speedway tonight. Hot laps starts at 5:30. This race will be televised on The Cushion if you would like to watch it.
