On June 5, 1972, the UN (United Nations Organization) held one of the most important events about the environment in Stockholm, Sweden. A conference discussed the ecological future of the planet. At the time, it was instituted as the "World Environment Day".
This year, the theme proposed by the United Nations Organization (UNO), is the restoration of ecosystems.
What can we do to restore an ecosystem?
The process of recovering an area or an ecosystem is called ecological restoration. This process, carried out intentionally, aims to accelerate or even initiate the recovery of an ecosystem as faithfully as possible.
How to restore degraded ecosystems?
To assist in this situation, there are several methodologies for recovering degraded ecosystems, such as protection, selective cleaning, planting of forest species, perches, and others.
But if this capacity has been severely affected, ecosystems need human intervention to recover. One way to do this is by planting trees and plants - preferably native ones.
How important is the recovery of ecosystems?
More than natural beauty and soil protection, ecosystems provide important ecosystem services to humanity. ... Ensuring the conservation of forested areas and restoring degraded ecosystems is essential to improve people's living conditions and avoid major disasters.
Floresta em Pé in partnership with local producers has already been developing a project of ecosystem restoration, which occurs in the Amazon Forest and aims not only to protect and return part of the fauna and flora lost to deforestation. But also to generate a decent source of income and move the green economy of the city through a project that aims at this restoration.
The environmental project developed by Floresta em Pé not only benefits the forest, but is also an opportunity and source of income for small producers who select, plant and grow these seedlings to the ideal maturity for introduction into the forest.
Currently, Floresta em Pé has a partnership with 80 producers, and our goal is to have 120 more by the beginning of 2022.
"But how does Floresta em Pé, producing nuts, manage to contribute to the Amazon Rainforest?"

Our reforestation project began in 2018 and today, in 2021, we already have more than 11,000 trees planted and another 12,000 seedlings in production, including productive and non-productive species such as Cocoa, Baru nut, Ipê, Copaíba, Burity, Ingá, Pequiá, açaí, and the Brazil nut itself.
These trees are introduced in areas of reforestation and environmental compensation, responsible for recovering the soil, and bringing back the fauna and flora to the deforested region.
In addition to providing security and sustenance for the animals, the recovery of these areas also generates opportunities for the indigenous people and local communities who live in the forests along the banks of the Juruena River.
