Replacing a Lost Fuelcap Summer is now underway, and the chance of losing a fuel cap as you use your boat more, or make ready before you push away from the fuel dock certainly increases. Gasoline fuel caps are offered in two (2) versions, non-vented for pre-2011 vessels, and EPA compliant Vented fuel caps. Perko manufactures both types of caps. Caps with a “coarse thread” are NON-EPA compliant systems, and typically found on vessels delivered before 2012. Caps with a “Fine thread” are EPA COMPLIANT, and confirm tightness with an audible sound, with a snap, or clicking sound. Make sure you know the difference, as the type of cap on your boat depends on the fuel fill, and fuel system. The caps are NOT interchangeable, and should not be forced on the fuel fill. Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 2023
Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show While the Perko banner was flying high above, the 2023 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat show has wrapped up, and what a show it was. The Grande Azimut 36M yacht won best in show. Azimut says the Grande 36M is a superyacht incorporating various design elements such as a semi-walkaround upper deck, which runs from the stern nearly to the extreme bow on a single level. The Grande 36M fits into Azimut’s Low Emission Yacht family thanks to the high-efficiency D2P Displacement-to-Planing hull, designed by P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture with the shipyard’s research and development office, and the extensive use of carbon fibre to lighten the weight of the superstructure. The opening windows of the skylounge transform the deck into an immense terrace overlooking the horizon. Lauded yacht designer Alberto Mancini drew the external lines with unmistakable style, while Achille Salvagni curated the interior design. One of the largest in-water shows in the world, the show includes everything from flight boards, RIHBs, center consoles, and superyachts. Perko Battery Switches
Perko® – Wiring a Perko Battery Switch There are many ways to use a Perko Battery On-Off Switch. The most obvious (and most common) is simply to use it to turn off your battery when in storage so that your battery does not drain as quickly and is ready to go when you are. Like all Perko products, these time-proven switches are made in the USA. All switches are ignition protected. But for boats with multiple engines and multiple batteries, using multiple on-off switches (sometimes in conjunction with a selector switch) can provide different benefits. Running with a selector switch in the both position (see selector switches) may not fully charge all batteries. But adding on-off switches to the circuit you can force the alternator to charge the battery you want charged. Have a big stereo sound system on board?
