Pancreatic cancer patients at Mayo Clinic can now receive one of the newest innovative technologies available to fight the lethal disease. This month, Mayo successfully performed its first total robotic Whipple operation. Benefits can include quicker healing and recovery, shorter hospital stay, less pain and a smaller incision compared to traditional open surgery.

The case was led by Zhi Ven Fong, M.D., Dr.P.H., and Nabil Wasif, M.D., with Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center in Arizona. The procedure will soon be available at our sites in Minnesota and Florida.
