On 8/18/23, Chaz Gillilan was again convicted on all 18 charges related to the murder of Noah Kinser and the assault of a juvenile.
Gillilan had appealed his first murder conviction and was granted a second trial due to a technical issue.
His convictions were the result of the hard work of our detectives and the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office.
Detectives from Miamisburg PD and TCSU - Tactical Crime Suppression Unit confiscated between $25,000-$50,000 of stolen property from an organized retail theft investigation in 2020. Today, all the seized property was donated to St. Vincent de Paul and Artemis Center to benefit others in our community.

Two new parking areas are being prepped this week for reopening in the Riverfront Park construction area. These lots are located on the north (along Ferry St) and south (along Linden Ave) ends of the project area. Striping and other finishing work are scheduled to begin today. Unless the weather impedes progress, the lots could reopen by the weekend to serve downtown patrons. The transformation of Riverfront Park remains on schedule for completion next spring.

UPDATE at July 26th, 2023 at 2:10pm:
We are pleased to announce that the nationwide issue affecting Verizon Wireless customers' ability to call dispatch center non-emergency and administrative lines across the region has been successfully resolved. Residents with non-emergencies can continue to utilize the Regional Dispatch Center’s non-emergency number at 937-225-4357(HELP) for assistance and support.
We extend our gratitude to our residents for their patience and understanding during the resolution process. As always, the safety and well-being of the community remain our top priority.
________________________________________________
We are aware that Verizon Wireless customers are unable to call multiple dispatch center non-emergency and administrative lines across the region. This includes the Regional Dispatch Center and only seems to be Verizon customers.
When calls are placed, it rings and then the message "all circuits are busy" will play. 9-1-1 lines are currently unaffected by this and are fully operational. Please do not test 9-1-1 as it will result in police being dispatched. If you need fire or EMS call 9-1-1. If you need law enforcement for a non-emergency matter and can't use a phone other than Verizon either go to the nearest station, wait until service is restored, or call 9-1-1.
We will provide applicable updates as they occur.

Every year, our Regional Dispatch Center receives an overwhelming number of calls for fireworks and shots fired calls during the days leading up to and on Independence Day. While we understand the excitement and joy that fireworks bring, we kindly ask you to remember that emergency dispatchers are here to handle true emergencies. 🚨
As of July 1, 2022, Ohio law has changed, allowing you to legally purchase and discharge consumer fireworks on specific dates and times. To clarify for July 4th, you can enjoy your fireworks displays on July 3, 4, and 5, as well as the weekends immediately before and after, between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. For more information about Ohio's Firework Laws, please visit the Ohio State Fire Marshall's Website here: https://com.ohio.gov/divisions-and-programs/state-fire-marshal/fireworks/guides-and-resources/consumer-information-on-ohios-fireworks-laws
Please reserve calls to our dispatch center for genuine emergencies only. Non-emergency calls overload resources and delay assistance to those in immediate need. Let's celebrate responsibly as considerate neighbors.
Here are some tips for a safe experience:
🔹 Familiarize yourself with local laws and ordinances regarding fireworks.
🔹 Use fireworks in designated areas, following safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
🔹 Be mindful of noise levels, especially late at night, to respect your community.
🔹 Attend professional fireworks displays organized by experts if possible.
🔹 If you witness a genuine emergency or believe there is a threat to safety, don't hesitate to call 911.
By working together, we can make sure our emergency lines remain available for those who truly need immediate help. Let's have a fantastic celebration while keeping everyone safe. Have a wonderful 4th of July! 💥
Vacations can be fun but don't announce your upcoming travel plans on social media or wait to post photos of your trip once you return.
Other tips:
-Lock your doors
-Put lights on timers to give the impression you're home
-Ask family member, friend or neighbor to keep an eye on your house
-Ask for a vacation home check from the Police Department
Fireworks, festivals and other traditions may be fun for people but they can be overwhelming, even dangerous, for pets. Check out our tips below to have a safe and fun Fourth of July with your furry friends. 🎇

A recent change in State law has permitted individuals to legally discharge fireworks except in jurisdictions which ban them. The City of Miamisburg is continuing to ban fireworks and our enforcement will remain the same as in previous years.
