Canes Baseball Club

I've tried to write this at least 5 times and have ended up deleting it. Not sure where to start or ultimately what to say. As a person that is usually good with words, I'm officially at a loss for them. All I can get out and keep coming back to is this....Today, it ended.

July 27th our program saw it's last team take the field. 100's have players have worn our uniforms, represented our brand and we are beyond grateful for everyone of them. It all started in the summer of 2002, with two 18 year old kids wanting to stay in the game as long as they could, to where it is today with 28 teams, is just incomprehensible.

Coaching select baseball has become one of the hardest things I do and have ever done. This isn't easy. I've made thousands of mistakes, have had countless of incredibly difficult conversations, been public enemy #1 to so many people, many of which I've never even met, but through all of that it still is the most rewarding thing i have ever been apart of. This game has changed so much over these 20 plus years. The athletes have changed, the way we teach and play has changed, the recruiting has changed and honestly the families and players have changed. It's a constant grind to stay ahead of the curve and it's truly an adapt or die world . Frankly, I hate it, but the thing that keeps me and others going is the amount of good we try to do. The most rewarding portion of this is the lifelong memories and relationships that have been generated from being apart of this game.

The list is way to long to even begin to thank everyone. We are truly grateful for the ones that have believed in the process and have been with us through thick and thin. Doug Adams and I are beyond grateful to all of you that have been through this grind with us. I don't believe in good byes, this is more of a see you later moment. I will wrap this up with one last thing... Thank you for this incredible ride.

As we move on from the 6th Charles Hunnell memorial Classic at Action Sports Center! We would like to say thank you everyone who attended from all the organizations! Charley Was as good a man as we ever met with everything his family did for our players and families as well as our program!

This past weekend the Hunnell was once again a monster tournament in your name having roughly 120 baseball teams from around the midwest area! We hope we made you proud Charles, we love you and miss you everyday!

Congrats to former Canes OF/P & Wayne HS Graduate Ben Cahill on being named Lieutenant in moraine Fire Department! Was great to see Ben, his outstanding wife, son and parents! We are so proud of you!
