I attended the People Empowering People (PEP) training program and was so fortunate to be a part of an amazing community service project at the Beth-el Center, a homeless shelter in our city.

With a group of fellow learners and students, we brought our kids with us to clean up the garden and play area for the families who rely on Beth-el. We pulled weeds, mowed the lawn, raked leaves and even made a beautiful rock garden. It was great teamwork between adults and kids and filled me with a sense of fulfillment.

I'm truly grateful for everyone involved in the PEP training program. Through this experience, I have a renewed commitment to doing even more community service activities in my future!

On June 5, 2022, some of the us got together with our children at Woodmont Beach to collect some rocks and then paint them in preparation for our project with Beth-el Center and the Senior Center.
All the kids got really into the project and tried to find the heaviest or biggest rocks. During painting, they thought of unique ideas and had fun discussing and showing their rocks with each other. We also had not done rock painting first, so then it was us adults turn.
We all brought snacks, drinks, and games to make it a picnic and a great get together while doing something for the community. This was the first of many such get togethers in Milford.
This is a great way to help the community but also show the kids that you are never too young to make a difference.

Decluttering does not have to be only at home. There are so many opportunities in our communities as well.
* cleaning up the playground area
* helping organize a church or a center for others to have a place to go
* cleaning up the outside area of a school so kids feel welcomed and safe

By helping in the community, it can help motivate you to look at your life and start decluttering and organizing.

Hi, my name is Reena Katarya and I wanted to create this post as an opportunity to provide a little more background into who I am and why I am choosing to do this.
I have not always been the type who is well organized or throws away items not used. I actually have been the type to keep everything and there had been days when I was confused on what is needed to get done.
But, there are always certain events that happen in our lives that changes our way of doing things. An example is that I was always a night owl and after having kids, I have become a morning person.
In this same way, after my mother passed away, something inside me clicked. I started becoming very clear on what I wanted to achieve in my life and how I wanted to reach there. I also became very clear on how I wanted my home to be. I started working a certain way and created a system for myself that worked in all areas of my life. After all, we are lots of pieces put together and not just one event or aspect.
I love organizing and decluttering. I do it on a regular basis and certain habits are now so ingrained in me that I don’t even realize I am doing them. It keeps me clear-headed and is a form of meditation for me. It makes me feel calm and at peace. I also feel more control with my life and where my life is going.

The Power of Writing

I think more clearly through writing. How true is that for you? I find that it helps to have a journal readily available so that when I feel the urge to write, I can instantly scribble in it. I found during days when I feel too emotional or too confused, by writing down those feelings, I get a different perspective. It almost feels like a bird's eye view on the issues that are causing all these emotions to flood through me.

By taking smaller steps, no matter how small a step, you will be closer to achieving your bigger goals.
