I had an amazing time this weekend as a finalist for the Domenic Pellicciotti Opera Composition Prize at The Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY. Caitlin Vincent and I worked hard on writing Scene 3 of our opera "Computing Venus," about the lilfe of astronomer Maria Mitchell. These SUNY students were so great to work with, and the whole weekend was a gift.

Did you know our first concert this season is the first time Helios has ever been performed accompanied by projected images that coordinate with the music?
This out-of-this-world work has been years in the making; now Timothy C. Takach, composer has commissioned Deborah Johnson, aka Candy Stations, to create stunning visuals of the solar system inspired by the piece's texts & vocal soundscapes! This will be a truly stellar experience!

Timothy Takach: Helios | Sept 30 - Oct 2, 2022

What an amazing weekend! Tonight, I finish my 2-year residency with the Texas Boys Choir in concert here in Ft. Worth, TX. 4 premieres about self identity and 3 other pieces of mine are on the program. Tomorrow, I conduct the premiere of "Dragon Fire," a piece co-written with Jocelyn Hagen. It was commissioned by the 5 high schools in the Lewisville School District in TX and features a rocking 4-hand piano part! Also tomorrow the Minnesota 7-8th grade TB Honors Choir premieres "Stand" for 2 part TB choir and electric guitar. It's a piece about bullying with poetry by Brian Newhouse. Whew!

For those keeping track, that's 6 premieres in two days!!
