❄️Let it SNOW! 1/10 NSI Weather Update ❄️

Another round of light snow is making its way into our area this afternoon. Snow will move into the area by 1:00 – 2:00 and continue to fall through the overnight hours and into early Thursday morning. Most of the accumulating snow should be wrapped up by 3:00 am, with just some very light on-and-off snow showers through about 6:00, with no significant additional accumulations expected after 3:00 am.

Most of the metro area should see right around 1” or so of new snow from this system. Cloudy and cooler for the rest of the day Thursday with highs only expected to be in the upper teens. Another good chance for accumulating snow Friday into Saturday ahead of another cold front that will bring us our coldest temps of the winter, with overnight lows predicted to be close to ten below on Sunday.

Northern Salt Weather Update: 12/30 ⛄️

We have some light snow on the way for this evening that will continue on into Sunday morning. Look for the snow showers to develop across our area tonight sometime after 7:00 pm. The light snow showers will then continue through the overnight hours, wrapping up and moving out of the area Sunday morning by around 9:00 am.

We currently do not expect this system to be a huge snow maker, with most of us picking up around ½” or so, but the possibility of up to an inch or so does exist for portions of the central & east metro areas.

Temps will be in the upper 20’s so any snow that does fall will likely lead to some slick spots on the roads, so use caution if you are out and about tonight.

WHO IS READY FOR SNOW! 🥶

We have another chance of some light accumulating snow later this evening and into Tuesday morning as a clipper moves out of Canada and across our area.

Look for light snow showers to start to develop sometime after 7:00 pm this evening and continue off and on through the overnight hours, wrapping up and moving out of the area by 6:00 – 7:00 am tomorrow morning.

We could see a slushy inch or so accumulate on grassy surfaces but due to the warmer pavement temps it will be difficult to get significant accumulations on heavily traveled paved surfaces.

However, there is a possibility of a few slick spots around the area that could cause some issues during your morning commute. Look for a gradual warm up as we move through the rest of the week with highs in the 40’s.

Don't 'fall' behind on your winter to-do list Although looking at leaves and sipping pumpkin spice lattes are fine, you should also be using fall time to get ready for what comes next... WINTER.

🌨 NSI WEATHER UPDATE! 🌨 As light flurries have turned to heavy snow this afternoon and will continue to fall through the afternoon and into this evening. By Wednesday morning accumulations are expected to be in the 4”-6” range.

As we move through the day Wednesday and will continue into early Thursday morning, we expect another 3”-4” of accumulation.

A high-end, life-threatening winter storm will be developing and moving into the Great Lakes as we head through the second half of the week which will bring multiple hazards to the region that'll impact snow and ice removal efforts.

❄️Snow Wednesday & Thursday❄️
- In the metro, the snow is expected to start in the midday hours Wednesday, ending near the morning rush on Thursday.


❄️Blizzard Conditions Thursday-Friday❄️
-Winds will greatly increase later Thursday into Friday that will cause this freshly fallen snow to blow around and produce blizzard or near-whiteout conditions.
-In many areas these winds could persist for 18-24+ hours.
While winds of these speeds will develop along the North Shore Friday, the strongest winds (potentially 50-55 mph) will occur Friday Night up towards Grand Marias and Tofte.
-Winds will increase as we head through Thursday night into Friday but from the evening hours on Thursday through the early morning hours Saturday wind gusts are expected to be at least 30 mph in the metro, popping up to around 40 mph at times.

Due to unprecedented early season salt demand as well as continuing rail service, Northern Salt Inc., St. Paul Division will be temporarily halting bulk salt loading at our Saint Paul Location, 602 Prior Avenue, St. Paul, MN site on Wednesday, 12/21/2022.

We’ll continue to supply your bag and liquid needs.
