Yesterdayās banquet also gave us the opportunity to say farewell to the 2021-22 senior class!
This award goes to someone who has been in the program for 4 years and who has excelled on and off the basketball floor. The recipient of this award has demonstrated a commitment to the programās values over the course of his career as an Auggie.
2021-22 Winner: Matt Carik
The Hard Hat Award is given to the team member who demonstrates the highest level of work ethic in practice and in games. The recipient is someone who is constantly striving to be the best he can be on a daily basis on and off the basketball floor.
2021-22 Winner: Jack Sorenson
The word Kaizen is Japanese for change for the better. It refers to a philosophy that focuses on continuous improvement of processes. This individual demonstrates the desire and ability to improve on a daily basis.
2021-22 Kaizen-Constant Improvement Award Winner: Conner Knoepfle
The Teammate Award is given to the person who embodies the traits of the ideal teammate. He puts the programās goals over individual accolades and accomplishments and sees the programās overall vision.
2021-22 Winner: Rayquan Moore
The Scholastic Achievement Award goes to the person with the highest cumulative grade point average who has attended at least two semesters of class at Augsburg.

Assistant Coach Harry Sonie completed his second season on the Augsburg Menās Basketball staff! Before coaching, āSoneā was a tremendous player for the Auggies from 2014 to 2018.
In Soneās senior season, he started in all 29 games! He led the team in assists with 121 (4.2 avg) and finished second in the MIAC with 50 total steals (1.7 avg). Sone went on to earn Third Team All-Conference and make the MIAC All-Defensive Team.
His strong influence on and off the court helped him earn the Cory Polta Award for Outstanding Leadership. He now uses that same drive and passion for coaching!

Dominick Ingram was named All-MIAC Sportsmanship Teamā¼ļø
Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
Matt Carik was named an All-MIAC Honorable Mention, the third MIAC honor of his career having previously been named All-MIAC third team in 2019 and second team in 2020.
Carik started all 24 games for Augsburg and averaged 11.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Conner Knoepfle earned his first career MIAC nod, being named to the conference's All-Defensive Team. He started all 24 games for the Auggies this season, reaching double figures nine times.
Knoepfle averaged 9.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per-game this season.
Jack Sorenson earned a spot on the All-MIAC second team after averaging 11.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per-game this season, also notching 51 assists, 36 steals, and three blocks.
He knocked down 44.6% of his attempts from beyond the arc this season, good for second in the MIAC.
Joe Palmer was also named to the six-player All-MIAC first team for the first time in his career. He was previously named to the MIAC All-First-Year Team in his first season.
Guard Rayquan Moore (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) was named the MIAC Sixth Man of the Year, the first MIAC honors of his careerā¼ļø
Moore is the first Augsburg player since Kevin Van Rossum in 1998 to be named MIAC Sixth Man of the Year.
Augsburg University's Joe Palmer (JR, Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) was named the Joe Hutton Men's Basketball Player of the Year by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conferenceā¼ļø
Palmer had a phenomenal season for the Auggies, leading the conference in both points (21.0) and rebounds (9.0) per-game and ranking ninth in field goal percentage (50.8%). His 21 points per-game also ranked him 31st in all of NCAA Division III. Making all 24 starts for Augsburg, he finished the season with 11 double-doubles and scored 20 or more points in 14 games this season, including four 30-plus point performances. He earned MIAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week honors four times this season and was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week once. A history and secondary education major with a 3.71 grade-point average, he was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
