What. A. Day! Suffice it to say I am wildly exhausted, but buzzing with the fun of this wonderful community that never fails to disappoint! A very full day at the Red Rock Arts Festival in a booth with my buddies and .studio in our mixed-media creative corner (Globemallow theme for the win). Thank you to everyone who came out, chatted, took home some earrings, and generally made the day a delight!

I’ll also have my full slate of available beads and taking custom orders at that time too- you can browse thousands of beads, pick your colors and pattern exactly, or give a little guidance and I’ll run with it! So much fun to have three pairs of my Desert Flora earrings at the silent auction for last night’s annual gala for It was a blast to attend, the food and community were wonderful, and I am happy to have gotten to support this wonderful resource for sharing Moab’s rich and exciting history! Cheers to you, and looking forward to lots more fun programming this year!

Inspired by a favorite native desert plant of my friend Kara (owner of Wildland Scapes Nursery here in Moab- go check them out!!), Indian Ricegrass is the next species to gain a feature in my desert flora series! Amazingly adapted and a great sign of a healthy desert ecosystem, Indian Ricegrass grows happily in sand, shimmies in the breeze, and is just damn adorable (everyone agrees). Next time you’re on a hike, give it a little tussle and bring a smile to your face 🥰.

This showy classic desert flora needs little introduction: the prickly pear! This quintessential cacti has magnificent blooms that range from yellow to pink and orange, but only stay for a very short and pollinator-pleasing time until these blossoms quickly give way to producing their delicious bright magenta fruit. Bold and cheerful colors from all parts of this spiky little desert companion grace these prickly pear-inspired 14k gold hoops, bringing a little summer joy wherever they go 🌸

Despite the snow currently on the ground here in Moab (and lots of other places), spring is HERE, and with it brings our favorite harbinger of the season, friend of happy pollinators everywhere, and persistent little bu**er: the globemallow!
