How to hand express:
1. Wash your hands
2. Think of your breast as a clock, you will hand express all the way around in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction
3. C your breast and move your fingers back 2 inches from your ar**la
4. Push all the way back to your ribs
5. Gently bring your fingers together
6. Catch the drips in a medicine cup or a small bottle
7. Repeat steps 3 thru 6 until the colostrum slows, and do it again in the opposite direction to ensure the breast is empty. It should take 5-10 minutes to hand express each breast
Just wanted to show my face here and let you all know I am alive and well! I appreciate everyone's patience with me during the major life change and let me know how I can help in your parenting journey ❤️
Did you know that most babies are born with their days and nights mixed up? Think about how when they are inside you belly, you are up and moving around all day, essentially rocking them to sleep, and then they keep you up all night kicking you, because you have stopped "rocking" them.
When they are born, they have no circadian rhythm and rely heavily on moms melatonin supply that was passed to them.
This makes the first few days with a newborn extreme challenging!! How can you help your newborn acclimate to life and sleep on the outside?
1. Keep it light during the day and dark at night. Don't turn the lights on when your baby wakes in the middle of the night. If you need light, keep it dim and limited to yellow, orange or red hues.
2. Keep the environment stimulating during the day. Run the vacuum, let the older kids play and be loud, let the dogs bark. During the night, keep it low stimulation. Keep the interactions minimal, feed, change their diaper, and put them back.
Stay tuned over the next couple of weeks for more sleep tips!
Let me know in the comments if you baby had their days and nights mixed up those first few days!

Let's talk about ductal narrowing! You may know it as plugged ducts but research shows that it is actually narrowing of the milk ducts that causes the symptoms rather than clogs.
Hi everyone!! I just wanted to introduce myself as I've been getting some new followers. My name is Aly. I am a registered nurse with a background in neonatal intensive care that is providing services to parents that are struggling with different aspects of parenting.
I have 2 boys, Grayson and Rhett, they are 4 and 2 respectively. I wish I had a service like this when my boys were little and I'm excited to provide this type of service to our community!
What makes the mama coach unique is that I will do a nursing assessment and come up with a plan specifically for you and your baby.
Some of the services I offer include:
🤰prenatal course
🤱🍼breastfeeding, bottlefeeding, and pumping support
😴sleep support for newborns all the way through toddler
👶postpartum visits by the hour
⭐️CPR and choking courses
🚽potty training assistance
I can't wait to help you and your family in this journey of parenthood! Let me know how I can help😊
