Custom Saltwater Taxidermy
We make your "catch and release" (or eat) a memory for life! Reproduction Fish are much better than skin mounts for many reasons:
1.
All our fish mounts are meticulously hand painted with individual care by a professional fish taxidermy artist. Our reproduction fish are made of composite materials that are designed to out last and look more realistic than the best skin mounted fish (real fish skinned and dried to make a mount). Composite materials will last for years to come with very little care and skin mounts even with the b
Jumbo gag grouper, the live fish had very little pattern or typical gag coloration… extremely unique fish both in color and definitely size, whooping 53 # tank.
Pelagics getting a little color in the shop this week…
It’s very hard to get pictures of a fish mount without studio lighting, proper camera and of course a real photographer but, here are pictures of two very uniquely colored fish and the reproductions I made of them. Very dark American red snapper and a very light brown trout.
A good variety of mounts in the shop right now… jumbo gag grouper to brown trout.
***IF YOU’RE LOOKING 👁️ FOR FISH MOUNT WORK*** Last call for orders on new fish mounts, I’m closing my book for new mounts this week on mounts to be completed prior to the start of 2024 charter fishing season. I do have some availability for repairs and mount restoration during February and March. If you miss this time frame it’ll probably be winter 2025 before I can get to your fish mount. Let me know if I can help and/or please share this post…
Few more mounts have made their way to their forever homes… Cobia, wahoo, pacific yellow tail …
A few pictures of some of my recently completed mounts… it’s been a busy winter/spring. Numerous repairs dolphin, sailfish, marlins and more…
This old sailfish was banged up pretty good. Broken bill, bottom jaw, tail and quite a lot of paint damage but, we opted to keep original paint job instead of a complete restoration. After all the repairs I blended the colors back to the original paint, brightened up a few areas and sprayed a fresh coat of gloss to bring this old sailfish back to life. It’s definitely not perfect but, a great looking mount with mostly original paint at about 1/3 the cost of a new mount.
King Mackerel is a rival to any saltwater fish taxidermist… they are a very tricky fish to paint!
!!!Everyone needing fish mount repairs!!! Now is the time to get your fish mounts fixed up… old, damaged or just “frogy!” the next two months I’ll be scheduling repairs and refurbishing of mounts in need of attention.
Got the big girl shined up and at her forever home… at the new EJW outdoors.

As the busy charter season closes in. I’m finishing up most of my scheduled winter time fish mount projects. Here are a few pictures of some of the mounts I’ve completed recently. A few before and after on restoration... last picture shows a pile of fish mounts out of the mold, cut out and waiting assembly and paint.
Before and after... no gloss coat.
Last batch of mounts for this winter... a couple of these are going to be very unique and will be staying here in town.
Finishing up a few inshore replica fish mounts... all fiberglass, bondo and paint.
I Haven’t been on the water the past two days so... “86” sailfish coming right up!” Only thing left is the clear coat.
I few close up shots of the mold detail and painting on this 40 # rockfish replica.
A few of the mounts I’ve made during my off season from running charters. All of these photos were taken before gloss coats, helps reduce glare.
