Temecula/Murrieta HOPE Collaborative
The mission of the HOPE Collaborative is to promote the safety of children and prevent abuse and neglect in Riverside County.
Preventing child abuse is possible! Your voice is the strongest way to spread awareness and protect children from further harm. This campaign was meant to highlight and address a worldwide issue that will not end unless we continue to educate and apply preventative measures to families throughout the country.
One of the most important things that we can do is support families, parents, and caregivers all year long in ways that promote and build upon their strengths and enable them to care for their children safely before maltreatment even becomes a possibility. If interested in learning practical and effective parenting techniques, please join us on April 24th for our last workshop of the month, Effective Parenting and Healthy Family Dynamics.

With our fast-paced lifestyles it can be difficult managing the roles parents take on to provide and care for their children. These challenges may later create negative family dynamics which
can lead to neglect in the household. To learn how to promote strong parent-child relationships in continuation with our April Campaign workshops please join us on April 17th between 5:30-
6:30pm in English and from 6:30-7:30pm in Spanish.

Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial s*x act. Although anyone can be trafficked, LGBTQIA+ youth are particularly vulnerable due to the absence of strong support networks, marginalization, and high rates of prior histories of violence.
January 11th is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Since 2014, nearly 15,000 youth have been identified by the Child Welfare Services for suspected exploitation and/or trafficking. Talk to a young person in your life to share the warning signs of human trafficking.
January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. It is a time to raise awareness and take collective action to prevent and end exploitation for all. Throughout this month, we honor first and foremost the survivors and thrivers, whose resilient voices shape and inspire our local and national work. Human Trafficking includes all forms of commercial s*xual exploitation of children. This encompasses the use, procuring, or offering of children for prostitution or po*******hy.
If you need assistance or have questions about human trafficking, call the National Human Trafficking Hotline (888) 373-7888. If you are in immediate danger or witness a potential HT situation happening, call 911.

Having a Safe Person can prevent children from being abused by having a person to get guidance during difficult situations. We are reminded of this by our next submission which comes from a local 7th grader they write:
"If I ever feel unsafe in any way, I let my mom know right away. She’s always there for me and has helped me in so many ways. Along with my other family members, I would say she is my safe person. She loves me so much, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express all my love for her."
Our next submission reminds us that a Safe Person is not always an adult but can still hold the same power.
This amazing submission comes from a local high school sophomore, they write: 'The person in my painting is one of my friends from school. She helps me through a lot, and I really wouldn't be in the mindset that I'm sort of in without her."
HOPE Collaborative District 2 would like to give a big thank you to Project Chela and Altura Credit Union for the amazing partnership in creating our Child Abuse Prevention video. Please feel free to share this message and remember together we can !
This amazing submission comes from one of our local middle school students! They write:
"My safe person Is my mom; She is always there to help me. I know I can trust her with anything and when I am down, she inspires me to work hard"
Being a safe person to a child means that a child can trust you to be there for them when they need help free of judgement. A Safe person status matters more than just when it’s “crunch-time.” We know life can be stressful, and it is easy for kids and parents to get overwhelmed. This is why it’s so important to always have an open line of communication with your kids, so no matter what is going on in your life, they know they can communicate their feelings with you.

HOPE Collaborative has had a successful first week with the launch of the "Working with HOPE" campaign!
HOPE Collaborative has joined forces with our everyday heroes. We are calling upon our workforce to stand up against child abuse and help bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention Month. We invite Riverside County’s Workforce to stand in solidarity and recognize April as Month by spreading awareness and showcasing their support within their community. We began to distribute our Child Abuse Prevention Kit which comes with education posters, blue ribbons, and stickers for your staff. HOPE is also extending the opportunity for our workforce to become mandated reporters to empower our community and create a safer environment for Riverside County's youth.
Its Child Abuse Prevention Month!
In honor of April, District 3 Hope Collaborative wanted to bring awareness on the importance of having a “Safe Person”. We asked students to use their art skills to tell us who their safe person is!
Did you know that cultivating a healthy, trusting relationship with children is actually one of the best protections against abuse. Kids will be less vulnerable to people who would violate their boundaries and more likely to tell you if they are uncomfortable or if abuse occurs. Every child needs a safe person in their life they can talk to if they have been hurt or are concerned about their safety.
Our first submission comes from a senior in high school:
“I digitally drew my interpretation of my safe person during a time of need. The darker outside perimeter mimics the doodles that can be found in many of my early notebooks growing up. There is clear confusion and difficulty seen through the clashed drawings, which brings a deeper focus to the middle of the picture. Because everyone’s safe person is so different from each other’s, I decided to leave the person unidentifiable. This person is unique to everyone’s circumstances and each person has a different experience in life. However, this person always brings light and joy to the darkest places, which makes them so important in all of our lives.”
