I’ve officially met my spirit animal! 🐭 This mouse understands the importance of tidying up/resetting the house each night (or shed) 😆👏👏
Other side of the pantry I organized a few weeks ago. It still need labels but my client has been under the weather. Hopefully she’ll feel better next week and I can finish the job then.

One side of a pantry that I worked on yesterday. The space isn’t too overcrowded to begin with but the mom is a hidden organizer, which means visual clutter causes her to feel anxious. Simple solution: containerizing! Nothing was donated or discarded but look at how much more spacious & visually serene it is now! 🤩

Started organizing a 3-car garage this week, focusing on clearing the floor first. I don’t know if the previous homeowners were giants 😉 but there was an excessive amount of upper shelving with nothing below. Which is why so much was on the floor!
My plan is to create a kid zone for outdoor toys & sports equipment by adding kid-level shelving near the door. Grandad is building a worktable this weekend so we can create a work zone in another area.
All in all, it should function much better when I’m done. Stay tuned for after pics next week! And if you need help organizing areas of your home, message me here or fill out the contact form on my website at www.sortedaffairwnc.com
I’m working with a client who, like me, doesn’t want her home organized with a bunch of plastic. Some great alternatives to plastic are bamboo, cardboard, glass, metal, natural fabrics, seagrass, rattan, water hyacinth, wicker, wire, wood & wool felt. More expensive than Dollar Tree, yes, but isn’t Mama Earth worth it??

Bookshelf re-do for children who are homeschooled. The labels tell them where to find things ~ aaand where to put them away 🤞🏼😬🤞🏼
Are you selling your house soon? Here are some tips for home staging that could increase your sale by up to 10%!
DECLUTTER by at least 50%. Don’t forget hidden areas such as closets & cupboards. Minimize the amount of furniture in each room as well.
DEPERSONALIZE by removing/pre-packing personal effects like family photos, children’s artwork & medications from kitchen counters & bathroom cabinets.
NEUTRALIZE. Consider slipcovering upholstered furniture with a neutral color. Change out curtains, bedding & towels with the same. (You didn’t hear it from me 🤫 but save receipts so you can return post-sale.)
I know it’s hard to do but it’s important to start thinking of your home as no longer yours when selling. Potential buyers need to envision themselves living there. Decluttering, depersonalizing & neutralizing makes it easier for them to do so.

Finished a senior downsizing job last week. Client is going from a 3 bedroom home to a 1 bedroom apartment so 2 rooms full of stuff mostly had to go, along with the entire contents of a shed. I made a new friend in the process, which is one of the best things about doing what I do! 🤗
Thanks to Alexander Habitat ReStore for picking up my client’s donations. And if you or a loved one need help decluttering or downsizing, message me here or fill out the contact form on my website. I’d love to help! www.sortedaffairwnc.com
Yesterday, I had a conversation with a friend about some of our struggles with ADHD. Despite her best efforts to keep an orderly home, she finds it extremely challenging and often feels defeated & overwhelmed. “Why can’t I keep a clean house,” she asked. “Other people with kids can.”
First of all, neurodiverse or not, please stop comparing yourself to others. It’s harmful & unproductive! Secondly, please stop beating yourself up over things you can't control. You’re wired differently than neurotypicals and are not defined by your ADHD or any other challenge. Rather, it's about finding creative solutions that work best for YOU.
Recognize that those with ADHD are 100% dopamine-driven. Let’s face it, routine cleaning is boring. Waiting until the 11th hour to do it is much more thrilling! So invite a friend over for coffee or tea once a week. I bet the common areas of your home will be clean in under 30 minutes, literally the 30 minutes right before they arrive. 🌪️🤪
Empower yourself by reframing your ADHD struggles into opportunities for growth & self-improvement. Focus on working with or around your challenges instead of criticizing yourself.
Make everyday tasks more exciting by setting timers. Turn house cleaning into a game of Race Against the Clock. You’ll be amazed at how much you can get done in 10 minutes! This works for me and it can work for you too. What are some tips & tricks that work for you?
Much love to my neurodivergent community & to all those facing challenges with every day life. Be kind, both to yourself & others 🤗
Quick guest room/crafts room tidy up, part 1. Took less than an hour. Going back next week to finish it, so stay tuned.
Most guest rooms turn into what I call the “cram room.” (I’ve also heard them called the “room of doom.”🤪) If you’d like help decluttering your guest room, shoot me a message!

When you used to a badass but now you’re old & just spent 30 minutes watching YouTube videos on how to toss a throw blanket over the corner of your bed, obsessively redoing it about 20 times until you think it finally looks like you actually did just casually throw it on the bed that way 😆
Wishing you all less stuff, less rushing, less stress & less noise this new year! Happy 2024!
Many of you will be taking your Christmas decorations down this weekend so I wanted to offer a few helpful tips. Instead of storing holiday decor by category (lights, garland, & decor for example), store instead by ZONE (mantle, side board, living room, kids’ rooms, etc).
This is so much easier because you simply take the totes to each room and place it right in front of where you’ll be decorating or undecorating! No more having to lug individual totes from room to room, plus it’s less confusing the following year because you know that what’s in each tote is specifically for that room and area.
As a reminder, be sure to take pics of your decorated zones, print them out and include in the tote so you don’t have to try to recall how you did it last year. NOTE: Be sure not to store snow globes & candles in the attic or in a storage area that isn’t climate-controlled, as heat can ruin them. Also remove batteries from anything battery~operated and put new ones in next year.
If you’d like help taking down Christmas at your house or organizing holiday storage for a much easier next year, Sorted can help! Happy Almost New Year to you all 🥳🥂💛

Every year I used to try to remember how I had decorated for the holidays the previous year. Now I take a picture of each area before dismantling, print it out and store it in the tote for next year! Of course you can simply keep the pics on your phone but, a year later and knowing me, I’d probably forget that I even took pics 🤦🏼♀️ so I prefer to print & store them right in the tote.
Now onto decorating for Christmas! 👏
If you need a home holiday helper to take some of the busyness & stress off your plate, message me or give me a call. I’d love to help!

I finished labeling my friend’s bathroom cabinet. Containers are a “home” for like-things and labels are their home address! Labels tell you where your stuff “lives” so you know where to find them and where to put them away
