Me after coming home from the market yesterday (2024, colorized)

I know the weather was not the greatest, but really appreciate all of you who came out. We’ll cya next week with many more vendors back in town 🍉

01/05/2024

Hurray for Friday! As we in the farmers market business like to say, TGIF, or Tomorrow Go Injoy Farmersmarket.

Back and better than ever in 2024, Fickle Creek Farm and Zephyr Family Farm return after holiday time off, meaning we won’t be lacking for veg while Redbud Farm, Certified Organic is gone. Elsewhere in the market, there will be hot coffee from 321 Coffee and sizzlin’ vegan soul food from Souls Kitchen. Birdhouses of America will have its first market with WWFM, please give them a warm reception! Looking forward to seeing you out there 😊

New year, new vendor lineup! As the graphic suggests, we’re rolling out our vendor application for the 2024-2025 season at WWFM, which begins April ’24 and runs to March ’25. We will be accepting applications for this window until February 15th. Please read our Market Rules (linked in our application) thoroughly to ensure you’d be a good fit for our market before applying as our application fee is nonrefundable.

Plenty of old favorites will be back, and hopefully many new faces too 😊

Thanks Triple Creek Quail for the deep-fried eggs! Delicious, and calories that I can budget into 2023 so the NY resolution is still possible 🙏

Breezy day at the last market of 2023, thank you to all who came out! More vendors should be back next week; looking forward to seeing you all then!

Hope everyone is having a relaxing holiday period! We’re back tomorrow for a low-key last market of the year. Redbud will be taking off to prep for the spring after this, so get your last organic veggie fix while supplies last! We’ll have hot food courtesy of Soul’s Kitchen plus many usual favorites in town. Regulars like Fickle Creek, Coleman Girls, and WildMoose are taking a break for the holidays but will be back next week.

Our customers are the best!!! Look at all those donations going straight to Dorcas Ministries right before Christmas. All in all we had a great Saturday morning of outdoor fun and last minute gift shopping. Thanks for providing the hot food Soul’s Kitchen!!

We’ll see you all next week for our last market of the year 🍉

Who’s excited for some presents? For some family fun?? For delicious, local food at the dinner table??? We are here to help! Whether you need a last minute present (plenty of crafts this week), want to enjoy a relaxing brunch in the community (awesome food truck Soul's Kitchen in town), or are just here for your usual weekly shopping (f’get about it!), we got you covered.

Should you be in the giving mood, we are also hosting a food drive for Dorcas Ministries to make sure all families in the area have something hearty to eat as 2023 comes to an end. Dorcas’ Amazon wishlist is linked in our bio should you need some inspiration, every little bit helps! Bring your offerings to the Education Garden during regular market hours to participate.

The holidays are almost here! For many of you, the family has already gathered, for others the magic is just a tasty meal with the thermostat way up. While our vendors are doing all they can to ensure you are well equipped to create the heartiest feast possible, WWFM wants to do its part so that local families in need can do the same.

When you make your usual rounds at the market this Saturday, drop by the Education Garden with any nonperishable items you’re able to donate. At market close, Supreme Garden Overlord Donna will take your donations to our partner, Dorcas Ministries, to give out before the holidays. Not sure what people want? Peep Dorcas’ Amazon Wishlist in our bio for their recommendations.

12/17/2023

Let this picture serve as a warning to any squirrels who trespass in the Education Garden, you do not want to end up like this tree 🌲⚰️

While Donna’s army was hard at work prepping our community garden for spring planting, we managed to have ourselves another happy market! Fortunately dodging today’s precipitation, it was great to see all our wonderful customers again 🍉

We WILL be open 12/23 and 12/30, so come by at the usual time for any last minute additions to the holiday spreads

12/15/2023

Winter? What winter? While the sun is setting earlier and I have had to break out the ice scraper for my windshield, the local businesses that make up WWFM are still coming out strong! Check out the great lineup we have for tomorrow, 12/16, including a new vendor: Bravo Zulu Barkery! Returning after attending the craft fair and meeting all the lovely dogs that shop at our market, Bravo Zulu Barkery offers dog treats that look as good as they taste (according to my canine quality control team).

What a 🔥 (or should I say ❄️) final craft fair of the year!! The weather was perfect, the crowd was perfect, the vendors… they had it goin’ on! Thanks to everyone who came out to hang and support our market as we enter the last part of the year. We will be back next week with our regular market, hope to see you again soon 🍉

Do you love the holidays? Do you love farmers markets? How about craft fairs? WHAT is the deal with airline food?? If you answered yes to any of those questions, boy do I have the thing for you: tomorrow, from 9:30-12, our humble market is going out of 2023 with a bang, hosting a final craft fair we are calling Winter Wonderland. If you have a laundry list of family and friends in need, get your shopping done early with our high quality, socially conscious array of products. At 10am Santa will be making an appearance, so bring the kids too!

To sweeten the pot, our gracious vendors have contributed items to create a special prize basket that you can enter into the drawing for! Simply fill out a slip at the Info Tent on market day. See pic 2 for many of the vendors featured in our basket.

As prophesized in previous newsletters (if you’re not already signed up, get on it! Sign up on our website 😊), we are holding our last craft fair of the year this Saturday, 12/9! Starting at a modest 9:30am, come take in the sights (lots of friendly vendors), sounds (Santa ho-ho-hoing from the lawn), and smells (beauty products galore!) at the Winter Wonderland.

In addition to a dummy thiqq vendor lineup, we will also (1) be hosting Santa from 10am onwards to meet all the kids and (2) have a drawing for a jam-packed prize basket consisting of vendor contributions. To enter to win the basket, simply come to the market and fill out a slip at our Info Desk.

12/03/2023

Look at that line!! The dedication for organic produce is what it’s all about 💪 I know the weather was gloomy as is tradition on Saturdays around here, but thanks to everyone who came out for our first winter market!! See you next week for the big craft fair ❄️

12/01/2023

I am officially snoozing my normal Saturday morning alarm as we begin our market’s winter season!! Now starting at 9:30am instead of 8, come by for all the same vibes and good food. The hot coffee will be flowing, Redbud Farm, Certified Organic will still have some late season veg, Island Time Excursions will have an expanded stock of seafood… what’s not to love?

How many Secret Santas are you currently participating in? How many of those have you paired with someone either you don’t know or who is impossible to shop for? I for one am at capacity, so a healthy chunk of my retirement savings will likely be spent on the talented local artisans we’ll have in store for you on 12/9. Get all your holiday shopping checked off and buy some hearty grub while you’re at it!

Also reminder that WWFM starts at 9:30am now that we’re in December, no need to come at 8am until April! Otherwise you will be subjected to my pre-market rain dance for more customers and nobody wants that…

Last chance for market goodies! , and ShellyMac will be here tomorrow from 3:00-6:00pm for pickup of holiday preorders and last-minute purchases before the holiday.
🚨 LOST & FOUND 🚨 Are you missing a package from your shopping on Saturday? .anthropoceneonfire passed along your package to us for pickup at the Info tent.
We're taking our one scheduled Saturday off this week, so no market on 11/25. See you December 2 when we begin winter hours (9:30am-12:00pm). 🍂Happy holiday weekend! 🍂

Who’s looking forward to Thanksgiving?? If your household cooks as big a feast as mine, you know you’ll need the best ingredients! Come by Saturday for the last full market before Thanksgiving, where you can pick up all your meat, veg, and other goods from the hardworking local businesses that make up our vendor lineup.

Unfortunately, there are many households out there who don’t have the means to put on quite the same banquet. That’s why we are putting on our first of two food drives to collect any nonperishables our wonderful customers are able to contribute for Dorcas (see the link in our bio for their preferred items). Please drop off all donations at the Education Garden.

At the music tent tomorrow is Tom Del Corro, a retired healthcare provider and navy vet. Tom plays acoustic guitar and uses his music to raise money to donate to many veterans causes.

Also, remember to get your preorders in for Shellymac's pies (919-215-6569) and Fickle Creek's turkeys (link in the bio)!! They will be available for pickup on Tuesday 3-6pm.

It’s the market before Thanksgiving, you know the drill – we’d love any nonperishable food donations that you’re able to spare to give to Dorcas Ministries! While all items are welcome, please see Dorcas’ wishlist in our bio to give you some idea of what is most in demand. Drop off your offerings at the Education Garden to receive instant good karma for the festivities ahead (politics will not be brought up at dinner, the bird will come out juicy and crispy, the kids will volunteer to do all the cleanup etc…)

Speaking of Thanksgiving, reminder to preorder your Fickle Creek Farm turkey (link in the bio) and your Shellymac pie (contact Shelby at 919-215-6569) for pickup at our mini market on Tuesday 11/21 3-6pm. GaborFarms and Liz Anthropoceneonfire will also be around for any other last minute purchases!

Thank you again Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary for bringing all those sweet and adoptable animals to the market on Saturday, I had a bit of a cute overload... We will see you again once it warms up again in 2024, hopefully with better weather!

As Thanksgiving approaches, we know you're counting on us to help out with the amenities. Text or call Shelby ASAP to preorder one of her world-famous pies. Same goes for a Fickle Creek Farm - Bryan has turkeys for preorder, see the link in our bio to reserve yours now. Both will be available for pickup at our Tuesday Mini Market on 11/21 3-6pm, see you there!

Finally, peep some bonus pics of Donna's volunteer army hard at work in the Education Garden 👀

Holy moly we've got so much planned for this Saturday!! Swipe through to see all my Canva training coming together lol

1. The wonderful folks at Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary are putting on an adoption drive at the market from 9-11:30am. They will have lots of cats and some dogs who are ready for a new home! Even if your house has no space for another animal, come say hi to all the cuties we’ll have for you to meet.

2. Robbie’s pigs have me at gunpoint so I’m forced to continue the pumpkin drop-off for another weekend. All jokes aside, if you have any leftover pumpkins that you weren’t able to donate last weekend, we’d love to take them! We’ll have a tarp laid out on the lawn by the Education Garden.

Photos from Western Wake Farmers Market's post 11/05/2023

Thanks to everyone who made it out for another great market! Those who arrived before the sun came out got to see many vendors before they defrosted ❄️

The pumpkin drop-off was a great success!! Swipe through to see the animals of Coleman Girls Farm and Fickle Creek Farm enjoying their hard-earned spoils. We will put out the drop-off zone again on 11/11 if anyone has more pumpkins they want to offload!

Also big thanks to Clean Water Energy Partnership for coming out to educate about NC’s beautiful but fragile river systems. I got a sweet otter sticker that is now on my laptop

What better thing to do on a Friday than count down the hours until 8am Saturday? Come by your favorite local market to support sustainable practices, small businesses, and some high quality grub. Bring your Halloween pumpkins and other gourds to feed to the fauna of Fickle Creek Farm and Coleman Girls Farm 🎃 We will have a drop-off zone on the lawn!

At the music tent this week is Michael Daughtry Music. A Berklee grad who has taught music for over a decade, Michael's music features multilayered lyrics, strong vocals, and relatable themes. Ask him about opening for a diverse slate of artists including Edwin McCain, Lit, Dale Baker (Sixpence None the Richer), and Marc Davis (Hootie and the Blowfish).

Well, well, well… it’s finally here! For our first craft fair in a while, you know we had to do it at Halloween o’clock. Come dressed up for a trick-or-treating dress rehearsal through our lovely market (I just cleaned out the north Raleigh Costco so we will not run out of candy). Come get that holiday shopping done early while supporting all the hardworking artisans in your local community. Speaking of which, see pic 2 for the awesome new additions to the vendor lineup we will have tomorrow.

At the music tent we have Vito Dito, a singer-songwriter from Durham who offers a fresh take on traditional blues, standards and pop songs. He learned fingerstyle blues from local bluesman Slewfoot in the late 1980's and has been performing ever since.

Do you hear that faint rumble in the distance? That is the sound of craft vendors from around the area physically dragging their carts to 280 Town Hall Dr. They set out on Monday and will reach WWFM early Saturday morning. This will not only be an incredible feat of strength and endurance, but the mental toll of the long march along the shoulder of I-40 would ruin a lesser vendor. And they are doing this all to give you the best Halloween Craft Fair experience possible! So come out 8am-12pm to reward their hard work and participate in all the spooky festivities, including vendors in embarrassing costumes and trick-or-treating for the kids

What a pristine day for a market! The wind tried its hardest but luckily there weren’t any casualties (thank you Geluna Gelato for catching our tent).

Next week is shaping up to be a doozy as we’ll have a great lineup of artisans for our Halloween Craft Fair, so make sure to mark your calendars 🎃

Can we PLEASE have one market without rain in October?! If anyone knows a beginner friendly anti-rain dance that works for them, please leave more info in the comments. Now that I have that off my chest, let’s get down to business – it’s less than 24hrs from when you can come out to support local small businesses, sustainable farm practices, your local community!

We have a vendor lineup that is bulging at the seams this week. 321 Coffee is breaking out the hot coffee, WildMoose is testing the waters with samples of their winter breads, The Kupkake Fairy has market-exclusive mini donuts… Don’t tell me this isn’t a party.

At the music tent this week is William Woltz Music, a regular at WWFM. Will is an NC-native playing a mix of bluesy originals and interesting cover tunes. He is super friendly, so in between songs go say hi!

Also, allow me draw your attention to 10/28, when we will have a BIG craft fair to celebrate spooky SZN. Lots of vendors, lots of candy, market personnel dressed up… you can’t miss it!

Friday the 13th? In October?? If this isn't the night to watch a scary movie, I don't when is. However, get that slasher flick started before too late so you can be up bright and early tomorrow for your favorite, watermelon-themed farmers market!

Joining the WWFM fam this week is Joyful Sprouts Farm! Chad grows microgreens and has a wife and daughter who make wonderful crafts.

At the music tent we're bringing back Bella G! Bella has been in music for 15 years, beginning in classical piano before branching out to a more contemporary style. Check out her website for more info: bella-g.com
