🍞Old- fashioned Salt Rising Bread !!

❣️Several of you have been inquiring about Salt Rising Bread, an old favorite from years gone by that contains no yeast but a fermented starter of its own.
It's on our shelves today!
We started last evening at 5:00 by mixing the cornmeal, milk, potato flakes and sugar together and leaving it in our proofer all night at a controlled low temperature. This morning at 5AM, the bubbly starter was mixed with the rest of the bread ingredients except for all the flour and this soft sponge was left to bubble and rise for 4 hours. Next the rest of the flour was added, another shorter rising period then shaped into loaves and after a few more hours it's ready to bake!
