Thank you Mrs. Clark for proving this opportunity to our students and congrats to our two students for applying and taking on an exciting adventure this summer!
Kristen Clark, Chemistry and AP Biology Teacher at Mount Horeb High School, has two students in her AP Biology class who have been chosen to attend the National Youth Science Camp sponsored by the National Youth Science Academy!
Kristen posed the opportunity to her class one day this spring because it sounded like an awesome experience. To her pleasant surprise, Abygael Edseth and Gretta Birkeland applied and now both will represent Wisconsin this summer!
Hosted in Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia since 1963, the National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp) is a residential science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) program designed to honor and challenge some of the nation’s rising leaders and provide them with opportunities to engage with STEAM professionals and participate in exciting outdoor activities.
Our students and staff continue to amaze us. 🤩

We love our MHHS Staff!
Thanks to our students for providing the live tunes to celebrate our amazing staff!! Mount Horeb Area School District Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce
Good afternoon, Vikings.
To assist in our students' return tomorrow morning, we are making plans for increased traffic around our schools.
We are asking that community members please refrain from standing on the road or sidewalks outside of our schools. Moreover, please refrain from walking with your children into the schoolhouse. We want to ensure that students are not unintentionally overwhelmed by large crowds of (sometimes) unknown people on their first day back. I know your hearts are in the right place, but please heed this request.
Here are a couple of other ways to support our Vikings:
set up signs on your front lawn and wave to the buses on their route. Please use the following messages approved by our Crisis Response Team for any written material you create: "You are awesome," "We love you," "We appreciate you," and/or "Go Vikings." (Please avoid statements like "Be Brave" - they have already demonstrated that and then some.)
carpool with multiple families so our young people can walk into the schoolhouse together.
If you plan on dropping off your student(s), please do so as usual while keeping the drop-off traffic moving. We want roadways to be clear for buses.
Non-employees, please do not park in staff or student parking lots and along adjacent roadways (eg. Lincoln or Garfield Streets).
Regarding our Monday support opportunities, the District will continue to provide therapy dogs, extra counselors and police officers in each building, representatives from the Wisconsin Office of School Safety, and building-specific activities.
Thank you for accepting this information in the spirit it is intended. I don't want to stifle your outpouring of love. I merely want to assist in channeling in a way that maximizes your intent for our Vikings.
Steve Salerno
We have made a decision on prom.
Prom is being moved to Saturday, May 18th. Same time, same location.
While our hearts ache at the events of yesterday, we are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from our community during this difficult time. This truly is a special place.
We are so proud of our students and staff. Their resilience in the face of such a horrific situation was inspiring. There aren't enough words to express how proud we are of this high school community.
We did share a message directly to 11th and 12th graders. You can pick up your vehicles today using only the Hwy 92 entranxe near the student lot. Please don't enter the building, just grab your car and go.
We will share updates about tomorrow's schedule and prom (Saturday) soon.
Today, the focus is on healing and spending time with loved ones.
Your proud MHHS Admin Team,
Cody, Talisa & Kolleen
