The Thrifty Chap

Too often, splendid fashion is merely tossed out.

At the Thrifty Chap, we personally search for authentic vintage goods that might be reclaimed and worn by a sharp-looking gentleman once again.

"The King Collection"

Had a bit of fun with putting this together and naming it. It's always amazing what you can sometimes find at thrift stores and put together. I've learned a lot from Mum when it comes to staging, what colors work best together, how woods can conflict and unite, and how appealing bronze can be in the right setting.

Cheers

I've always had a fascination with armor. Not quite sure what it is that draws me to it, perhaps simply the fact that people hundreds of years ago somehow made a practical battle suit that looks fashionable. Of course, there is the historical side to it as well for me, what is the story behind this steel I might ask.

This helm in particular was likely used for LARP activities if I'm not mistaken. The metal itself is terribly thin and probably only around 17-19 gauge if that, it may be higher. So, unfortunately you couldn't use it for battle, but it is a nice showpiece or a nice compliment to a costume.

A wonderful coat I found while hunting about for clothes. I've noticed a distinct lack of men's overcoats, but I was pleasantly surprised with this find. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite fit me, but it looks dapper nevertheless.

Eventually, I'll have to move to a colder climate just for the excuse to wear these more. There is nothing more accomplishing to a man's attire than a final coat on top. I feel it simply puts an air of class to the whole picture.

Cheers,

Luke

"Shoe Shine Delight"

A little set I put together after hunting around at thrift stores. When you're at the staging part of the process, I feel it allows you to be creative and experiment. Or at least, for those reasons it is one of my favorite things to do in this job.

Also, this would be my first post on this platform, or really, any sort of social media outlet. In that case, hello and thanks for stopping by. This is the sort of content you can expect going forward, and if you happen to be interested in any of these items, please reach out to me.

Cheers,
