We took half of a four car garage and turned it into a beautiful studio/office. We agreed upon a design and then I went to work on the framing, drywall, added windows, electrical wiring for lights, laid flooring, and got the trimming done. We have one happy client and that’s good because she’s my wife.
When I was an architectural consultant and owned my window business, this ranked as one of my favorite projects. I was so honored to work on it and the end result was majestic and yet cozy. That’s a tough pairing, but we did it.

Sneak peek. This one is going to be hard to let go. We’ve looked through the whole house to see if we could keep it. Sigh. It’s hard to part with something you’ve made and fallen in love with.
This table is on fire…and it’s now in its forever home. The client picked the color, we designed the table.
An explosion of red oak in a sea of black resin. Table design and build by Danny. Legs were designed in house and welded locally. This table is now at home in Charlotte, NC.

Thank you Courtney and Kyle for letting us experiment with our ideas!
Red oak and a river of resin. First time working with resin, looking forward to playing with it some more. This will be a side table top.
Don’t let the drill fool you. This is a 100% handcrafted, hand-turned, wood pegged chair. The seat will be woven jute and a glider mechanism will be attached. First attempt. I’m excited to see how it goes and then evolve the chairs from there.
For personal/medical reasons, Danny isn’t doing heavy construction anymore. But that doesn’t mean he can keep out of his workshop. Over the last few months he’s made this stunning table for a friend. Solid red oak with two inserts - each insert has another leg for strengthening the middle. It can seat up to 12 people with the extensions. Last photo is the finished piece…still drying.
Today we did a small, very small, job. For three years this couple has tried to get someone to put in a simple handrail with a wide round rail and paint it. When I agreed to do it, they were over the moon. So simple.
They were so happy they made me take a $20 tip (after a 15 minute argument).
The gentleman said he’s not been able to use the garage entry for three years, all because of no rail. Sometimes it’s not the complexity of the job that makes it fun, but the necessity of the job.
Gotta go get the brush ready.
We’ve taken on several jobs that other contractors wouldn’t dare to touch. It comes with risks, but the end result is satisfying.
We came across some rotted window sills on a window restore we are doing. Water is the biggest enemy when dealing with wood around windows. But don’t worry, it’s fixable. We are cutting all new custom sills and replacing (the smelly) old ones. Gonna look good.
We are pro-age.
Never hide your wrinkles, they define you and were hard earned.
We are on a job that has been nothing short of challenging. Uneven floors and ceilings, walls out of plumb, framing on different planes, and out of square windows and door frames. But wouldn’t you be a bit out of joint of you were 172 years old?
This old house has been a total challenge and has given us quite the education. Constructed with rough hewn beams and wooden pegs, we decided along with the owner to let some of those old beams remain unhidden, bringing the soul of the home into the design.
We can’t wait to show you the final outcome. Nicole, our client has gathered stunning, old light fixtures and an antique buffet that we repurposed so it can be a double sink. It’s going to be beautiful.
This is Joseph. He wanted to be an apprentice and learn construction and historical restoration and remodeling. We added Joseph to our little family business three months ago. He started at square one (reading a level and tape measure).
This week he has cut and hung drywall! We are so proud of him. We have worn him out- keeping up with Danny is quite the task. An incredible bond has been formed between teacher and student and we are so proud of Joseph for sticking with it when he was achy, tired and worn out.
We go to great heights…to make sure things are done right, within budget, and with an outstanding finished result.
Getting down and dirty. It’s plumbing time.
Install of drainage plumbing for an antique cast iron claw foot tub, second floor. There was no plumbing in the 1800’s so this is like inventing a puzzle and we love (almost) every minute of it.
Our client wanted to put some things in the wall before we put up the drywall. A fun thing to do for the next person who decides to remodel this beautiful old home 25, 50 or 100 years from now. She asked us to contribute something. Can you guess what item we added to the wall time capsule?
We are currently doing the renovation of a bathroom in an 1870’s house. We are lovingly turning this gorgeous antique dresser into a double sink vanity. Our client, Nicole, has been savvy in finding stylish treasures for her new bathroom.
One of the easiest ways to save money on a remodel is to help with the demo. Our client stepped up and did just that.
Over the next few weeks, watch as we dig into this amazing bathroom remodel in an old 1800’s home.
We replaced the owners screened porch windows with beautiful all weather windows and some fresh interior trim work. Now they can use their addition all year long!
We loved working on this beautiful farmhouse from the 1800’s. There was a drop ceiling the owner wanted removed and then we installed 180 individual slats of yellow poplar bead board. Recessed lights were added over her gorgeous stove and over the butcher block prep area. Everything seems brighter, bigger and more beautiful!
We were honored to do the design and build for this beautiful knit studio for our client.
Swipe to see the transformation of our clients outdated extra room into a cozy, light filled, colorful studio.
Wall paper and paneling were removed, new wood laminate flooring replaced the tartan plaid carpet, bead board and new trim were installed plus new closet doors, new ceiling light, and recessed lights were installed over the work areas. Add some freshly painted walls and the room is complete.
We had a blast putting together the colors, furniture, flooring, and decor items. A perfect spot to get comfy, read a book, or knit up some cozy items.

180 Yellow Poplar bead board planks to prime and paint this week. Looking forward to doing the ceiling demo and getting these up. We love working on older homes. This is a ceiling remodel on a mid-1800’s farmhouse.
We are loving working on this room remodel for our clients studio. Not only are we doing all of construction- but we also created the room design and we cannot wait to share it with you!
It’s a new year and what’s better than a before and after? We took these old windows from 1870 and restored them by hand. It took five weeks to complete 8 windows. Tedious work but seriously rewarding.
We hope your 2022 is amazing, Happy New Year!
You never know what you’re going to find when you prep a room. When the current carpet was pulled up, we found the original carpet. Quite the statement.
We are so happy to be a part of making our community beautiful. The work we are doing on Pleasant Street is so rewarding as we help make this 1870’s home a stronger version of itself.
