Did you know that singing in choir can earn you scholarship money? 💰
Class of 2024 senior, school board representative, and tenor extraordinaire Kyle Lorensen will be attending St. Olaf and singing with the legendary St. Olaf choirs next Fall. He received over $8,000.00 of scholarship money JUST to sing in the choirs while he pursues his degree in economics. Kyle is a great example of how you can still pursue all of your passions and still be in the choirs all 4 years. We are proud of him and all of our class of 2024 seniors who are about to go out and change the world!

Did you know that science shows that when you are involved in music that you perform better academically? 🔬📝📚
We want to celebrate all of our junior class for not only being great singers, but being great students as well! The choir class of 2025 averaged a 24.8 on their ACTs (that's over 5 points higher than the state average) and we even had 6 students join the 30+ club. Congrats to Ava, Alex, Draven, David, Will, and Aidan for crushing this test!

What better way to celebrate the end of the year with some ice cream and a co****le tournament? Turns out The Mukwona-Bros are just as good at co****le as they are singing!
Thank you again BGP Photography LLC for making the awesome boards for you us!
Are you ready for the double-header we never saw coming? Because we certainly are!
Join us tomorrow evening for both our PVMS and MHS choir’s final performances. Park View’s POPS concert will begin at 6:00PM and MHS’s Folklore and Fairytales concert will begin at 7:30PM. Our singers are SO ready, our guest musicians are sounding great, and the PAC is calling your name. Will we see you there?
Due to the threat of severe weather the MASD has decided to cancel all events that are happening after 6:00PM tonight. This includes our MHS Choir's final concert "Folklore & Fairytales." We WILL be rescheduling the concert for Thursday May 23rd for 7:30PM. The PVMS concert will be moved up to 6:00PM.
All students are asked to please reach out to coaches, employers, etc. and explain the situation in an effort to accomodate this last minute change. I am disappointed that we have to make this change on such short notice, but safeguarding our student's well-being always has, and will be, my top priority.
The silver lining here? The MASD Choir program gets a chance to do a "double header" of concerts; as the Ella Fitzgerald quote says "the only thing better than singing is more singing."
Thank you for your flexibility, understanding, and I sincerely look forward to seeing you Thursday night when our singers will rise to the occasion and shine bright- like they always have.

MHS Choir’s final concert of the year “Folklore and Fairytales” TONIGHT at 7:00PM
We hope to see you there 🎵
We are less than 2 weeks away from our final concert of the school year! Join us Tuesday, May 21st as the MHS Choirs musical explore the theme of Folklore and Fairytales!
For the last few weeks our singers have been learning a ton of music that revolves around myths, legends, and children's stories. We have spent time learning about the Brothers Grimm, their stories, and digging into different folk legends from around Wisconsin. We hope you will join us as we wrap up another amazing year of learning and music-making May 21st at 7:00PM in our beautiful Greenwald Foundation Performing Arts Center.

At State Solo & Ensemble we had 2 events get nominated for Exemplary Performance awards, the highest award you can receive at the festival. Our second nomination was for our very own Mukwona-Bros who performed the modern madrigal “Adoramus Te.” Please give it up for the ‘Bros! 👏
At State Solo & Ensemble we had two events nominated for the highest honor that an event can get at the competition (State Exemplary Award). What better way to celebrate May the 4th (Star Wars day) than to recognize our own Star Wars-loving baritone Owen, whose musical theater solo “Joey, Joey, Joey” was nominated. Congrats buddy, we are proud of you!
Last Saturday we had our State Solo & Ensemble competition at UW-Parkside. Of the 62 events that MHS sent to State, 41 of those were our amazing choir students. Of THOSE 41 events we had 31 events earn a 1 (the highest rating ) and had 2 groups nominated for exemplary performance awards. Overall it was an exciting day and we couldn’t be prouder of ALL those involved 😁🎶
The picture is of Phantom Gold, but there were about another 40ish students involved as well! 😉
A few weeks ago, our PVMS 8th grade choir students traveled to Waunakee High School to compete in a choral festival and then spent the rest of the day having fun at the Wisconsin Dells. The singers got amazing feedback from the judge and had a great time with their friends at all that the Kalahari had to offer. Thank you to all the parents who chaperoned and stepped up to make the trip a success!
Will you hear the people SING? We’re confident you will 🎵
Dream the dream with us this November!
The Fall Musical will be Les Miserables and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this epic production to our Greenwald Foundation Performing Arts Center November 7-10th!
Best of luck to all 100+ MHS musicians who are participating in State Solo & Ensemble today at UW-Parkside. We know you will make us proud!

Before spring break, Concert Choir had a professional recording session with MHS alumni Andy Riehle. During the experience, students got to see what it was like to record a track like a they world in a professional ensemble setting. We are grateful for awesome community partners like Mr. Riehle who help make this choir program something special.

As March wraps up, so does "Music in our Schools" month!
Today's post goes out to highlight ALL of YOU! Without our MASD community and all the ways you support music education in our community we would NOT be able to do half of the amazing things that we do. Please continue to support your young musicians in all their artistic endeavors, as Yo-Yo Ma says:
"Music enhances the education of our children by helping them to make connections and broadening the depth with which they think AND feel."
Here's to you Mukwonago!
