Some very sad news 😭. Kevin and I had to make the incredibly difficult decision to say goodbye to our sweet Percy yesterday. It was very unexpected, and a heart wrenching decision that we never imagined we would have to make less than 24 hours ago. He had a cervical spine issue that rendered his front legs useless and he was in pain.
Honestly, I think we’re in a bit of shock. Our normal isn’t normal anymore, just like that.
The Doctor told us she respected our decision to not move forward with the (insanely expensive) surgery, treatment, and difficult recovery with no guarantees that he would have a good quality of life.
We’re trying to focus on the positive like how we had three really great years with him after rescuing him when his previous owner surrendered him.
Needless to say, we miss him terribly.
He was there with us through Kevin's cancer treatments, acting as an emotional support dog. Just recently, I started the process of officially training him to be a Certified Psychiatric Service Dog. I took this video the day before he declined.
Love them like you mean it. They are not with us long enough.
