I just started a full time job so my woodworking time will be severely curtailed for the foreseeable future.

Phoenix Designs Iowa is NOT going away, I just have a change in time prioritization.

This is something that I have been involved with for some time now.

Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association CVMA 39-4 has grown over the years and so has our ability to help support local veterans in need.

This year's donation by CVMA 39-4 has expanded to $8,000 for turkey, hams, and canned goods for the Quad City Veterans Outreach Center. It will not be enough.

When one of our members asks for sponsors, donations, information on handicap ramps, asks you to buy a ticket, or Share a status - THIS is one of the MANY things we do with those resources to directly help local veterans.

Bought some paints as a happy belated birthday to me present - first time I've painted in months 😱 and am pretty happy with the first steps. After the paint fully dries I will be adding an oil wash and -fingers crossed- it will turn out the way I envisioned.

It is a Very simple paint scheme - a simple red, yellow, blue triad -

how is everyone doing?

It's that time of year for me where other responsibilities take my woodworking time away from me - just in case you were wondering about the radio salience :p

If anyone does have anything they would like made - please feel free to send a message - please understand that I have a 50% non-refundable deposit policy now. I had to begin this as I have been burned too many times with the 'can you make this for me? - then spend time designing something only to have people suddenly go silent.

Also - please visit the Patriot Nation Design website and page - they have a TON of great premade files to choose from - are a very veteran friendly company, have a large range to choose from, and have superior product. I recently chatted with them about my download credits and they give great customer service. I am happy to carve anything you like from them!

Picture is of the Mississippi Mist, the splash fountain on the Muscatine riverfront.

I was asked if my cork backed wooden drink coasters absorb or resist the moisture.

They resist - I use Odies oil or (on older sets) Danish oil and then apply a coat of bees wax to create a moisture resistantsurface. If they absorbed - the wood would warp terribly.

This means that condensation/water pools. Just wipe it off and let it dry for a couple of moments.

The coaster below is my daily user - I abuse the heck out of it with iced coffee every day :) it is about 2 months old.

I just wipe it off after I'm done. My last one lasted about 7 months of daily abuse before warping a bit.
