Over the weekend we went to see The Natural Bridge in Rockbridge County, Virginia. It was such a beautiful, spontaneous adventure and we will definitely visit again soon! While hiking I learned many fascinating stories about this historic place.

Monacan Indians considered this ancient wonder a sacred site, and called it “The Bridge Of Gold”

According to legend, in 1750 George Washington carved his initials “G.W.” which may be seen today.

On July 5, 1774 Thomas Jefferson purchased Natural Bridge and 157 surrounding acres from King George III of England for the “sum of twenty shillings of good and lawful money” (about $2.40)

The Lee Highway U.S. Route 11, crosses over the Natural Bridge, even today.

On this day, I walked miles re-connecting with nature while taking in the beauty to see this waterfall, I came across a lot of them while hiking to the main one I wanted to see. While I was passing through this sign caught my attention that said "Take only memories, leave only footsteps". I was listening to the birds chirp, the water traveling throughout the rocks, the trees swaying in the wind, and I thought to myself how relaxing it would be to sit out here and handcraft some earrings. Not only could I snap some cool photos, but the scenery had me fully immerse into nature and it started to fuel adrenaline through my veins- so I did.
They are made with Red Oak Wood, and genuine white leather with golden embossed flakes, I hope you love them, as much as I love the memories I made behind creating these.
