⚠️ Rip currents
For those planning to enjoy the ocean and its waves this summer, it is essential to be aware of rip currents. Although they may appear to be the safest and easiest place to enter the sea, it is exactly where you should not enter. Rip currents are formed when the water is pulled back out to sea, creating an area with no waves. If you find yourself caught in a rip current, remain calm and swim across it instead of against it. For instance, instead of attempting to swim to shore while being pushed out, swim parallel to the beach and you will be able to escape the current. Once you are out, you can then swim to shore safely. Please ensure to educate any friends or family visiting the beach this summer on this important safety information.
