Sunday Funday with a lovely group of women eager to learn how to improve their pelvic health…and what that even means!
Breathing, moving, and sharing stories together. Knowing that you’re not alone and you CAN overcome the common struggles we tend to normalize.
If you missed this one, stay tuned for details about my next, Pelvic Floor 101 workshop at 360 Studios Naperville.
Thanks for hosting, Nicole Meloche Suchevits!

Hey local friends!

Pelvic Floor 101 is back at 360 Studios Naperville this month!

We had an awesome time in January and decided to do it again! Come and join me on Sunday, April 28 from 12:00-1:30pm.

If you’re not sure if this is for you, check out what past attendees had to say:

“If interested in a practical, applicable workshop filled with valuable information and a renewed idea that your body is exactly as it should be, take advantage next time Leena has a workshop.”

“An empowering and incredibly helpful session, introducing pelvic floor fitness which was so refreshing, accessible, and normal!”

Can’t wait to see you there! Reach out with any questions 😉

Spent the day with my 8th grader and hundreds more from our schools district’s 8th grade career fair, Career Motiv8. Loved sharing my passion for the field of physical therapy with these amazing young people. They were also able to spin the “wheel of fun” to test their anatomy knowledge and try out a few balance, core, and mobility challenges. Crowd favorite was getting cupping demos on their forearms and learning about fascia.
Talking all day once again made me appreciate what our educators do for our children every day at school…THANK YOU!
(And, NO, I didn’t give away l**e packets to the kids 😜 Some asked specifically about my practice and I gave a brief overview of pelvic rehab…and asked them to share my biz card with their Mama/Mother figures in their lives)

Love that this team at Cloud Nine Birth Services supports the important role of pelvic floor therapy for their clients 💕

Last week Meg & Teri met with Physical Therapist, Leena Bird, and she took the time to write up a little something for our followers! ♥️
Top 5 reasons to see a pelvic floor physical therapist:
1. Pregnant, postpartum or TTC. Wherever you are on your journey through motherhood, this is the time to EDUCATE yourself on ways to optimize your pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Learning about how your deep core system (which includes your pelvic floor) is designed to work NOW can save you time and energy in the future, and leave you feeling EMPOWERED during these transitions through life.
2. Pelvic pain. If intimacy post baby is a goal, then time, attention to scar tissue and assessing your entire pelvic floor is key. And your back, hips, tailbone or p***c bone can and should feel great while carrying or caring for little humans.
3. P*e and p**p problems. Sneeze, jump, run, lift with confidence that your un**es will stay dry. And discover a world of daily/consistent 💩 without discomfort and straining.
4. Pressure. Imagine doing life without feeling heaviness or pressure at the bottom of your pelvis…and understand how to manage and eliminate symptoms that go along with pelvic organ prolapse.
5. C-section. All mamas who birthed a human benefit from pelvic PT. Learn to love your belly, heal scar tissue and strengthen your core from the inside out without ab separation (Diastasis Re**us Abdominus/DRA)
Leena Bird Physical Therapy & Wellness serves clients in the western suburbs of Chicago with options for office, home and virtual sessions. Go to www.leenabirdpt.com to schedule a free discovery call and start your pelvic health journey today.

Mamas,

It’s never easy, but we have to prioritize our health and well-being to continue to show up as the best (or even the “okay-est”) version of ourselves.

Self care comes in soooo many forms.

This spring, mine has looked like this:

* 6 month oncology visit ✅ (Peace out cancer center ✌️5 years since my breast cancer journey began, and now I can close this chapter…hopefully for good 🙏)

* Colonoscopy ✅ (First screening at 45 was normal…next one in 10 years)

* Annual gynecological well visit ✅ (Absolutely love my midwife!)

* First visit with my new counselor to support my mental health ✅ (It’s ok and normal to find a different provider for your current needs…no need to “feel bad” switching)

* Joined a “new” gym for the accountability and support I need for my physical health ✅

What does YOUR self care look like for this summer? ☀️☀️☀️

My heart was beyond full after another beautiful open house at the new office in Lisle! On Sunday, family, friends and “clients turned friends” stopped by to support Blissful Mama Robin, Leah and I. My face hurt from smiling/laughing/ chatting for hours, and the warmth and energy from that day has carried me through the start of this chilly week. Thank you again to those who were able to come and to those couldn’t make it, but have been cheering us on from near and far. 💕💕💕

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Two years after saying YES to building a business designed to guide, support and empower moms through their pregnancies, postpartum journeys and beyond, I am so excited to serve our community in my new “home away from home.”

I have joined forces with the incredible team from Blissful Mama, Leah Lichy and Robin Ross, to design an office space that is, in the words of our clients, “warm”, “inviting”, “calm”, “peaceful”and “grounding”.

In addition to providing pelvic floor physical therapy and wellness services in your home, you now have the option of coming to this beautiful space for your sessions. Leah and Robin offer birth doula services, childbirth education classes/workshops, lactation support, massage therapy, aromatherapy, postpartum support groups, and a variety of other workshops to support birthing persons and their families.

Please stop by and visit the space that was designed with YOU in mind. See the invites below for details on our Wine Night (10/12) and Open House (10/16).

Can’t wait to see you there! DM with any questions or if you just want to stop by for tea/coffee on our front porch!

Let’s Talk About Your Pelvic Floor — Family First Birth Services 01/11/2022

One of the things that I love most about my business is that I have been welcomed into an amazing community of like-minded, professionals supporting moms throughout their motherhood journey. From birth workers to mental health providers and everyone in between, these are women that I refer clients to each day…many on my own health team.
A huge congratulations to my friends and colleagues, Tara Barnett Van D**e and Nicki Rehs Worden on making their business partnership official! They have joined forces to provide doula services and coaching consults to prepare families for birth and the transition to parenthood. Check out their website for more information…and be sure to check out their Blog!
I had the honor of being interviewed to chat about all things PELVIC FLOOR…including myth busting and uncovering what a pelvic floor PT really does…surprise, it’s not just internal exams and kegels!
Let me know what you think and reach out if you or someone you know could use some support!

Happy November 1st! (Or day I have to drag my kids out of bed after they passed out in a bed of candy!)
Grateful for my boys that still let their folks make it a family themed Halloween! (Baseball, umpire, 2 players and a beer guy!)

I hope the force has been strong with all of you mamas this week! This is one of my all time favorite pics of me with my Star Wars fans back in 2015.
I wanted to share a recording of the talk I gave for the Chicagoland Virtual Baby Fair on "What you should really be doing after receiving the all clear at your postpartum visit." Check it out when you have a few minutes!
Also, it's not too late to join the Baby Fair and hear the recorded content from amazing specialists ranging from doulas, mental health providers, aromatherapists and financial planners. Just send me a DM or comment below and I'll add you to the FB group!

Hi Mamas!

Question for you…

Who has either said it themselves or heard another Mama say, “I am terrified to have s*x” after giving birth, even though your provider said “everything looked good”?

Or…

Ever wonder if you will have a closet of black leggings/pants after birth (no judgement if you just love black, white, and grey like I do!) to spare anyone noticing an “oops” moment when you sneeze at work or when you have to take off running after your toddler at the park?

If you said yes to either of these, you’re not alone! And guess what, you can and do have the ability to return to pleasurable intimacy when YOU are ready, remain active and return to what you love after baby…but a little support and guidance never hurt anyone, did it?

Hi! I’m Leena, mama to 3 boys, a pelvic floor physical therapy specialist and owner of Leena Bird Physical Therapy, a concierge style practice that delivers PT and wellness services to your front door during and after pregnancy…yep, no need to leave your baby, your home, or leave work early. Your motherhood journey is unique, so why not get a personalized plan to reach your goals.

I’m so excited to be a part of the free Chicagoland Virtual Baby Fair taking place next Saturday, 4/24/21. Tune in at 5:30pm, or watch the replay, to learn a few simple strategies for “What to do after (and before) getting the all clear at your postpartum visit.” Can’t wait to see you there!

Struggling with guilt and lack the time to care for yourself? So many mamas feel overwhelmed and frustrated about their post-baby bodies and believe that, after having babies, it’s normal to p*e yourself, have back pain when lifting your kiddos, or not want or enjoy having s*x. What I know and believe is that, though these may be common conditions, they do not have to be your truth to live with and endure.

11/22/2020

Uncertain about the best method of caring for yourself and preparing for the arrival of your new baby? I’m here to tell you feelings of overwhelm and discomfort are not your new normal. You CAN have and DO have the energy and inner strength to remain active and feel confident in your preparation of childbirth.
