Starting something new this year; a career, hobby or commitment? I found this scripture very powerful and encouraging for my new journey and I hope you feel the same. Starting something new can be challenging but if you are intentional and rely on God's guidance, you will succeed. With God, all things are possible!

I don’t do this often - well, maybe even never before, but it’s been heavy on my heart to share in hopes that I can inspire another person, maybe even a momma trying to consider what to do to regain balance and use all the talents God has given you.

2020 was hard for many of us, everyone has their own story to tell about this past year, some are more tragic than others; some more blessed than others. If we really stop and reflect, we may all see some blessings in there.

I want to share a little of my journey. At the beginning of the year, my family was running all over every day of the week but Saturday; between work, T-ball, church commitments, we only had one day free. When the world shut down in March, it was a relief at first because we stopped all the running! When that shut down turned into extended isolation from our family, friends and even church, reality hit that life was forever changed. I don’t want to be insensitive but I'm not going to give the pandemic any more attention so that’s the last I will mention it.

Amidst the changes, we had blessings too, a major change in my family in November 2020 led me to one of the most challenging and most rewarding things I have done. You see, for the better part of almost 6 years, I put my career on the back burner to raise my babies. If you had asked me prior to kids, if I would be a stay at home momma - I would have said a firm “NO WAY”! But when that reality hit, I decided to put my career on hold to begin my new and even more important role of a stay at home Momma. I am so proud and feel very blessed that this was an option for us, it came with sacrifice, but it was the BEST decision I could have ever made for me and my family. I’m grateful to my husband for his hard work and support to get us through these times. While that part of my identity is still very important, and it certainly had its share of challenges, there were more blessings than I can count with my beautiful girls! They are now and will forever be my greatest blessings and my reason for striving to be better each day.

This leads me to my WHY - I felt like God was calling me to use more of my talents. As I said, November brought unexpected changes and opportunity to regain part of my identity - this time with greater purpose. You see, the last several years I was able to grow in my faith to the point that I am in the best place spiritually, God is first in my life and in my relationships. This made me a better wife and a better momma! I turn to God in good times and bad and ask him to show me his plan. That’s where I am today. I finally made the decision (and followed what I believe is God’s plan) to re-establish myself as a working momma. My family still comes first but I have to allow myself to grow and be more than just momma and a wife. I have started a new career in Real Estate, and I’m super excited about the new journey. Over the last several years, many of my friends have said that I needed to become a Realtor, I always dismissed it - no time, it’s expensive to get started and it’s ALL commission - this scared me! I believe these were all gentle nudges from God telling me what his plan was for me and my family. Now, as I am pushing 40, it is finally my time to listen to him! I am doing this to show my girls that I can be a present and positive momma while also developing a career to help support my family. Mommas are superheroes! We CAN wear multiple hats and be successful in all parts of us. I believe if we put God first, and don’t be afraid to ask our “community” for help, everything will fall into place!
