🤍I once heard someone say, “Don’t expect the person that hurt you to be the person that saves you.”

🤍Remember that forgiveness is something that you do for you, not for the other person. And unless something really significant has changed, forgiveness does not mean that you have to let someone who has harmed you back into your life

What I was inspired to write…

I step onto the familiar front porch, pushing open the screen door to be greeted by the comforting anticipation of friendly assistance. Though the service here feels like catching up with old pals, the allure lies in their delectable offerings. Everything seems unchanged—the rooms, even the waitress with her trademark white curls. Yet, beneath the surface, I sense the subtle shifts life has surely wrought. Connie, she tells me her name is, leads me to an unfamiliar spot in a back room by the window—a departure from our usual walls in the front rooms. It brings a smile to my face, flooding me with memories of Andy—the man he was, his essence. Andy was uniquely himself—selfless, caring, humorous, and intelligent. I long for his companionship, knowing none can replace him. Reflecting, I realize that Andy's essence lives on within me, a cherished legacy of love, intellect, and unwavering support. Here, in this café, I feel his presence, his love enveloping me. Thank you, Andy, for the gift of your love. Thank you.

This particular spot holds a special place in my heart; it's where my late husband and I would escape to, making it our Sunday sanctuary. For over a decade, my life has been a journey of healing, self-love, and acceptance. A decade that began with a cruel twist when my husband, at the tender age of 37, was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia. As his caregiver, I witnessed the slow and relentless erosion of his being, an agonizing path I had never imagined.

The responsibility to hold it all together fell upon my shoulders, not only for him but for our precious daughter. It was a weight that demanded coping skills I had never been taught, skills not readily found in the annals of my family history. I yearned for these tools, not just for myself but to pass on to our daughter, a reminder that life’s hardships are part of the journey we all traverse.

Through the tumultuous voyage of caregiving, the solitude of widowhood, and the challenges of single parenthood, I realized that this art of self-healing was not a luxury but an indispensable addition to my life’s toolbox. I embarked on a quest, immersing myself in countless retreats and classes over the years, learning and honing the skills of meditation, conscious breathing, and most recently, earning a master’s degree in creative writing. These experiences have allowed me to grasp a multitude of healing and awareness techniques.

With this page and the classes I offer, I aspire to extend a hand to others treading similar paths, or anyone yearning for a creative outlet in their lives. My intention is to create a nurturing community, not just inspired by the knowledge shared in my classes but by the strength we find in each other. Together, we’ll learn, grow, and heal, because life’s journey, though challenging, can also be profoundly beautiful. 🌟📝

My Inspired writing courses include three essential self-care techniques: meditation, writing, and a nervous system reset. Over the past decade, I’ve personally relied on these practices to help me navigate the challenges life threw my way, particularly after the loss of my husband. Today, I’d like to discuss the profound impact of meditation.

Meditation has been my sanctuary, offering a means to step back and observe the constant stream of thoughts that often consume my mind.
