Can you dig it? 🕵️♂️ 🕺
Can you see where the underground utilities are in this photo? Nope? We can! 👀
Here's the "hole" story- whether you want to plant a tree or install a new sprinkler system, call 811 before you dig. We will mark utility lines before the meter in colored paint for you, free of charge.
Find more information about how to know what's below at nbutexas.com/before-you-dig.

A walk through your landscape can help you save thousands of gallons of water and lower your water expenses. (No, we won’t charge a social media fee for reading this post! 😜) Here are some simple reminders to keep your irrigation system in tip-top shape:
👀 Inspect your sprinklers for broken heads and replace them if needed. (We can't have sprinklers losing their heads!)
💧 Connect hoses, valves, and pipes tightly to avoid leaks. (Let’s stop those sneaky drips!)
🌷 Direct the spray on your landscape, not the pavement. (Your driveway doesn’t need a shower.)
📱 Check your irrigation system timer to make sure it’s set to the proper day and time. (Time travel not required!)
🕺 Apply for our money-saving irrigation zone removal rebates. (Think of it as a high-five for your yard!)

Dormancy is nature's way of conserving energy by temporarily ceasing growth until outdoor conditions are milder. Dormancy will occur in weather like we are experiencing. While seeing your grass in its natural state of dormancy can be concerning, with proper care, your lawn will return when conditions improve. When your turf is dormant, it is advised to water once every two weeks with one-half inch to one inch of water. For more lawn tips and water-saving resources, visit nbutexas.com/drought-planning/.
🚨 Heads up, everyone! Scammers are at it again! 🚨
Some customers are getting calls threatening immediate cutoffs unless they call an 800 number and reference a “work order” to pay an overdue bill. They even claim CPS Energy and NBU are working together on this.
NBU won't call you and ask for personal or financial information. NBU will make numerous attempts to contact customers by phone and mail regarding outstanding balances and NBU employees can always be verified by calling our Customer Service team. If your bill is up-to-date, just hang up. If you need to verify your account status, call NBU Customer Service at 830.629.8400.
Remember, you can request a callback to avoid waiting on hold. Stay alert and stay safe!

NBU sent a team of linemen and support personnel this morning to Jasper, Texas, to help with power restoration efforts in the wake of Hurricane Beryl. Tornadoes that spun off of the system struck the town of 6,800 yesterday and left most of their customers without power.
As a community-owned utility company, NBU is part of the Texas Public Power Association network of over 2,000 public power utilities that answer the call for mutual aid to help restore power during major events. When storms like Hurricane Beryl hit, power restoration is made even more difficult in smaller communities that do not have large electric departments or independent contractors to help with restoration.
Please keep our crews in your thoughts and prayers while they help our East Texas neighbors in their time of need.
There is currently a Spectrum internet outage in the New Braunfels area. Our phone lines and customer account portal are impacted and will be offline until it is resolved.
Please contact us at 830.629.4628 for any utility service emergencies. We are exploring solutions and will restore our systems as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience.
The NBU team is closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Beryl and has prepared trucks, equipment, and crews to respond to our community's needs.
Please keep all first responders and utility teams in your thoughts over the next few days as they remain ready to help their communities weather this storm.
Happy Independence Day!
