Always great to spend time with YouTube creators. Even better to do it at Coachella where they are all producing awesome behind-the-scenes content for YouTube Shorts! Cant wait to see what is in store for Weekend 2!
Discussed his start in comedy, the pandemic in India, & how YouTube disrupts typecasting for Asian actors in Hollywood. Thanks to Hasan for his insights and humor when we need it most!
Appreciate the Observer Research Foundation for recently hosting . Interesting discussion around YouTube's role driving the creator economy in India. Top of mind was our ongoing commitment to responsibility in India -- how we're preserving openness and freedom of expression, while protecting our community from harmful content and misinformation.
We also touched on how all types of businesses in India, big and small, are thriving on YouTube. A sign of the impact we're seeing: According to research from Oxford Economics, YouTube's creative ecosystem in India generated 6,800 crores and supported over 680K full-time equivalent jobs in 2021.
Another highlight of our conversation was celebrating the diverse voices breaking through on YouTube in India, including women creators and others across Indian languages. Lots of special moments and creators to showcase, from the swearing-in ceremony of India’s first indigenous president hitting 5M+ views to success stories like Rachana Ranade (4M+ subscribers), a former accountant who teaches financial literacy.
Recently welcomed Indonesia Broadcasting Commission's Chairman Agung Suprio and fellow commissioners to YouTube HQ. Great to have a constructive discussion on the Indonesian government and YouTube's shared goals to protect our creators & viewers while supporting the growth of Indonesia's creator economy...
Sharing a really important conversation with creator Brandon Gonez about YouTube’s vision for the creator economy - we connected when I visited Ottawa a few weeks ago.
We discussed how YouTube is rolling out Shorts monetization and the ways we're standing up for creators and their livelihoods, which Bill C-11 puts at risk.
Canadian creators continue to have an incredible global impact. The world loves Canadian creators - over 90% of Canadian creator watchtime comes from international audiences!

Congrats to our partners, Goldenvoice and AEG, and all the amazing teams across YouTube for making Coachella and Stagecoach a reality on YouTube over the last three weekends. It took an incredible amount of work and I am proud of what we were able to deliver to music lovers all over the world -- especially after the last two years
With Neal Mohan as the of YouTube, we now have 25 Indians leading corporations worth a total market cap $5 trillion!!

Wow!!
Last week's announcements were huge for YouTube and especially for YouTube creators and artists. And we were thrilled to have creators like Colin and Samir, KallMeKris, Kyle Hanagami and artist Jason Derulo help bring our news to life on stage.
So I wanted to share some of the top moments from our Made On YouTube event that we've pulled together. These include expansion of our YouTube Partners Program to YouTube Shorts, earlier access to fan-funding features like Super Chat and Channel Memberships, and last but not least, Creator Music, a new tool that allows creators to choose between buying a license up front or revenue sharing with music license holders. Great seeing the 2022 YouTube Streamy Awards back as a live event this year!
Section 230 is foundational to the internet. It protects free speech and helps platforms more effectively combat harmful content.
Next month, the Supreme Court will hear arguments seeking to undercut Section 230. The stakes could not be higher.
More from Halimah DeLaine Prado on how upending Section 230 would harm free expression and make the internet less safe…
Thank you,
