The High Holidays are a time for opening up to our deepest selves, nurturing our relationships, and reaffirming our commitments to repairing the world. This year brings heightened urgency as we face the devastation of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, ostensibly in our names as Jewish people. During this time of soul searching, reflection, and healing, we will explore anew the values of Teshuvah (repentance), Tefillah (prayer) and Tzedakah (justice), and what they mean for our current moment.

Thank you Arts Council for such a beautiful article covering our Chanukah party at Possible Futures
On Edgewood Avenue, A Hanukkah Light In The Darkness The lyrics to "Lo Yisa Goy" wove through Possible Futures, carried on gentle guitar and trilling trumpet.
Hannah Moushabeck at Possible Futures!!!
“I am Jewish, I’m not a Zionist, and I reject the idea that critiquing the politics of a government, the way you would any other government, is antisemitic. Israel is not a Jew, Israel is a state,” said Rabbi Alissa Wise of Jewish Voice for Peace . “The claim that it’s antisemitic is used as a cudgel to silence people and it’s really egregious, the way that they manipulate Jewish trauma.”
'Not in our name': Jewish peace activists across the US call for immediate ceasefire and justice for Palestinians | CNN Thousands of Jewish peace activists across the United States are calling on President Joe Biden and other elected officials to rein in Israel – arguing more civilian deaths is not the answer to Hamas’ deadly attack.
Will you join us? This moment calls us to organize together in our Connecticut communities.
We will stop genocide in Gaza by moving our members of Congress to support a ceasefire. We will stand in solidarity with Palestinians and Israelis who are working to dismantle the systems of apartheid and occupation. The way to peace and safety — for everyone — is through ensuring justice and equality for everyone.

This Jewish mother’s voice says ceasefire now, allow humanitarian aid now, and free Palestine now!
I stand here as a Jewish person born and raised here in New Haven — the stolen Quinnipiac and Paugasett lands where my great grandparents came over 100 years ago and settled as refugees fleeing this same kind of violence in Eastern Europe. SHAME on anyone who would use their story to justify committing the same kind of brutality that caused my ancestors to have to flee!
I stand here as a Jewish person who loves her people and her culture. A Jewish person who went to Hebrew school here in New Haven, who grew up in synagogues here in New Haven, and who was Bat-Mitzvahed here at an orthodox shul. I think it is important for New Haven communities to know that people like me exist. Anti-Zionist Jews who were born and raised in New Haven, exist!
I also stand here as a Jewish parent of a young child. I along with so many others, am bearing witness to the indiscriminate killing of Palestinian children and families by the Israeli government. We also are tending and bearing witness to the Israeli people grieving the attacks by Hamas two weeks ago. And through the horror and the grief, one thing remains clear. We MUST hold on to our vision of a better world. We MUST do the work to hold onto our imagination, our ancestral magic, our belief in miracles so that we may transform this immeasurable pain into the creation of Olam Haba- a world that is better for those who survive this and those to come. A world that looks a lot like all of us here today. A world where our children can play together.
Moms, dads, grandparents, and kids, nearly 1000 of us took the streets of New Haven today. Students and young people led the way.
We can and will stop genocide in Gaza by moving our members of Congress to support a ceasefire. We can and must dismantle the systems of apartheid and illegal occupation that the Israeli government has built since 1948.
Because the only way to peace and safety — for everyone — is through ensuring justice and equality for everyone. That means standing in solidarity with Palestinians. It means building Judaism beyond Zionism. It means creating systems of safety through solidarity.

If you missed us at Purim, we've got some news: Mending Minyan has launched a membership drive!
Over the last few years, Mending Minyan has firmly established itself as a grassroots, intergenerational community providing something our members have not found elsewhere: Jewish practice that centers liberation, joy and community while consciously avoiding recreating white supremacist structures. We are truly community focused, because we believe everyone has something to add such as some words of Torah, a potluck dish, a song or a smile. We are now calling upon our community to financially support this work so we can grow together!
More information is available at our website. You can also fill out the membership document now at this Google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdcrHhxJ_Vl6a59WHIM1CN6GRh13kyr0XUQdySP_lsfWtRgzA/viewform
