Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel donated 30 Butterball turkeys to St. Francis Diner to commemorate 30 years of business. St. Francis Diner is a community based organization providing free meals to the hungry of Acadiana. They are located in the heart of New Iberia, at 1201 Hopkins Street, and have been serving the community for over 36 years.

“For many, the holidays are a time to celebrate and be merry but for some it is a very difficult time of the year,” said Mike Howard, General Manager/CEO at Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel. “We just wanted to help make it a little less difficult, if we could. It is very humbling when we see the faces of those we help and the lives we touch. It is pretty emotional at times, especially during the holidays,” continued Howard.

The diner serves as a community meeting place and supports without question. “We serve everyone. We do not ask questions. We understand that everyone needs a little help from time to time especially during the holidays,” said Juanita Lewis, Executive Director, St. Francis Diner. “We are here to help and build our community,” continued Lewis.

Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel, the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana, and their team members are proud contributors to several local charities, non-profits, and causes for the greater common good of the people of Acadiana.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff of St. Francis Diner we thank all who bought tickets for our Pork Steak fundraiser and those who did donations

Today is our First Pork Steak Fundraiser Sale this fundraiser is for a great cause as we are feeding more on Wednesday we served 368 plates , Thursday our count was 350 .Our aim is Feeding the Less Fortunate and that St. Francis Diner - New Iberia, Louisiana has been doing for 36 years the Diner opening the doors for such as great desire as having a Soup Kitchen in Iberia Parish . We’re the only soup kitchen our parish. St. Francis Diner is operated on donations only one Fema Grant , a part of United Way of Acadiana as our local United Way is now closed . We also have our St. Francis Garage Sale which is operated by a group of volunteers that graciously gives their time and effort the funds that are made f each garage sale helps both businesses for all operations . Funding is provided by local donors and local churches ,some local charities . The Diner as it’s known collaborates with Solomon House and the Iberia Men’s Shelter and it local nonprofits . It’s not our Annual Barbecue Dinner but we’re hoping to bring it back in 2024. We have different volunteers that come serve our lunch meals which are served from 11:30 -12:30 Monday -Friday
